I cant get to Moonrise Towers
The only paths I see are through the town that was defeated, however, as soon as I enter the town I get the curse of the shadow which kills me within 5 seconds.

What am I missing here? I saved Isobel from the abduction, but I didn't do the Drider ambush fight, and now they are gone.

What am I missing? Did I really completely break the game and make it impossible for me to continue by NOT doing the Drider Ambush at the very beginning when you enter the Shadowlands?

What if you came up another way and not through the Mountain Pass?

I don't understand whats happening here. I have tried torches, I have the blessing from Isobel, yet I cannot proceed past these heavy shadow areas without dying immediately.

Again, what in the hell did I miss? This is incredibly frustrating. I've been running all around the map for hours now and I just don't understand what I could possibly be missing.

If you absolutely NEED to do the Drider Ambush right when you first see them, why does the game even give you an option to remain in stealth and not do the fight? This is so stupid and frustrating.

I have the same problem. Have two broken moon lanterns... Had the pixies blessing from releasing the pixie which somehow disappeared. Isobel got flown off in the fight after i had killed all of the enemies. I have no way of progressing without the lantern, Isobel, or the pixie's blessing.

Did you try ringing the bell again?

Got it, thank you!
HI there yea i am having this same problem, i am playing the Dark urge character Path and have been following the dark urge dialogue choices, i killed the Dryder and the Pixie, so have no lantern, and no bell. i also saved the Moon Priestess at the last light inn and was blessed by her. also i killed the spirit child and his hostile dog, and parents. earlier. i have no bell, is this talk of the musical instrument to wake up the unwell shadow cursed man downstairs at the inn another option?, i have not managed to find this? where is it? i read through the guide posted above, and it seems the game maybe broken with no way to progress?, i am not worried about spoilers would just really appreciate help to progress as now getting very frustrated not being able to progress, stuck for couple days now. is there another way through that anyone knows i dont seem to be able to do anything, any accurate help would me much appreciated.
There is a way to get to Moonlight without lantern - you need to go to south entrance to Deep Shadow afflicted town go into turn based mode and run like hell (dash every turn) down the hill and towards broken bridge - it takes about 4 turns to get to "safe zone". Had same on my dark urge char since i've killed everyone in town and smashed pixie.
cheers thank you !! YapaLDZ il give that a try, not having fun with game anymore, could do with bit more info in the game thanks again for the heads up
So the blessing (however you get it) won't protect you from the shadows in the town (it will after a certain point in the story later).

The easiest way to get to the tower is to just dash straight for the front door from the bridge. Manually activate turn based mode and just dash, you'll barely take any damage. You can get a new moon lantern inside.

For emphasis. /!\ USE TURN BASED MODE /!\. If you try running in real-time you'll die.

You don't have to do Moonrise tower, you can skip it and still progress the story. It's not mandatory.

It's also not bad game design, it's a game of choices, if you choose not to attack the patrol and get the moonlantern, that's your choice, but there are consequences to that
Wait wait, you tell me you can just go straight to baldurs gate and fight kethric later in act 3?
No you cannot go straight towards baldurs gate, you have to deal with the kethric situation one way or another. You know what's stopping you from going to baldurs gate
It seems that you haven't explored the Shadowlands. Because that is where you fight Nightsong. And Isobel's blessing is enough to find Nightsong. Finding Nightsong solves the lantern problem.

Issue is Isobel's blessing doesn't help against the greater shadows that borders the town that leads towards the mausoleum, the various major houses and towards moonrise.

Your only option if you have nothing is to do turn based dash towards the towers and grab a lantern from balthazar's room.

Theres no way you fight nightsong before going to moonrise towers that cant be the only way
If you think missing "that" item is bad, just up ahead is an area where one of your companions or all of your squad can get stuck and you have to fast travel out......
I had the same problem and could not find a way to fix it. Ultimately I had to have Shadowheart go in solo, dashing and healing wording herself through the damage until i got to the outside of the entrance to moonrise tower. There's a glyph circle there. i teleported everyone back to camp, then back to moonrise. once you get inside, after a couple conversations, you'll get a quest and get handed a key to go get a lantern from a nearby room. that way you can leave and go do your other quests behind the thick shadows if you want. it worked but man it was frustrating and it felt kinda like cheating even though the game let me do it. they need to patch it. this isn't a "player choice and consequence" situation, this is bad game design.

uh? I don't see a way to skip it? elaborate?

also no, it's almost game breaking, that's bad game design. i had no way of knowing i had to have that item when i encountered the patrol.
You can't go there without the item. I think that the game is pretty clear on that.

OP had a case of nerd rage there that I haven't seen in quite some time lol
You can literally sneak into moonrise towers with astarion and get another lamp, there are areas where the curse doesn't affect you. I had the same issue and took the time to figure it out. I think there's even guides on youtube now for it. No need to be a salty baby.
