Races
Hi all

I know there are plenty of missing classes that will be added, but are the playable races currently in the game all of them or can we expect more? I play half orc barbarian in tabletop D&D and it would be cool to do that in BG3

There's a decent chance more classes and races will be added over time, likely we will get all the classes probably. As for the races, they may do their best to include a good variety of them, but it's possible we may not get every single one as a playable race that's in the handbook. Time will tell however.

Here is the early access notes from the store page. From the wording Larian used in the end they will add more. Swen has gone on ahead and said they will add all of players handbook in the game. He also said that the next patch 6 will be content heavy.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“The Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 includes Act 1 of the game which, in one playthrough, is approximately 25 hours of self-contained content. 6 player classes are supported and 9 races/subraces with more to be added later.

Sixteen choices...................but seven are Elf or part Elf, while three are Tiefling. Just two are Halfing, two Dwarven, one Githyanki and one Human.........so six truly distinct races, so far.

We are waiting on the likely others, like Half-Orc, Deep Gnome and Dragonborn.

Add some possible others like Tabaxi, Genasi and half-Celestial, all of which I'd really like to see.

Then there are the unlikely inclusions, like Lizardman, Aarakocra, Goliath, Leonin and Tortle, none of which I expect to appear.

Heh you beat me to it. This exactly. Distinct races not sub races is what really matters here.

Most of these races are simple another type of human like elfs, half-something (it ALWAYS a mix with human), dwarf, halflin.

Even gith they make the face too human. Just compare with any gith pictures from tabletop´s books.

I really would like more exotic races.

To add to SnakeOne list, I believe Larian stated that they want to add as much of the races and classes in the PHB as possible by launch. If they'll be able to get all of them in is another story.

In saying that, I think there's a good chance all (or nearly all) of the classes/subclasses from PHB will be implemented. And half-orc will likely make it as well, IMO, simply because their physical features don't deviate much from the other more human looking races already in the game. Less development time on Larian's part.

Same. I tend to lean more towards monstrous/exotic races simply because they're more interesting to me. But they require a lot more development time to implement, so I'd imagine it's going to be hard for Larian to implement all of them by release.

Some of the races/subclasses I really want aren't even in PHB :isaac:

I just hope we'll get Half Orcs before release. They might be a bit on the human side as well, but they are one of my favourite races. Dragonborn or whatever that half dragon race was called would be really cool to have as well though.

All the races in the players handbook are guaranteed. The one's we're missing are Half-orcs, Gnomes, and Dragonborn.
I think Aasimar (angel tieflings) have also been confirmed.

Humans are mammals, with low desity of fur, that procreate with each other...

Everyone is a furry. There are just degrees of how much you accept yourself as one.

Start loving yourself today... Accept the furry laying dormant inside of you :spacehamster:

Far from it. I couldn´t care less for romance or sexy and that is another reason for don´t play as human.

Anyway the old boring human is always an option ;)
