Larian Studios the new bioware?
i was hoping to see a new trailer for dragon age 4 at gamescom. what did we get instead . news that bioware let go 50 people and they are rethinking game design. i wouldn't be surprised if the success of bg3 played a part in that one. i havent played it yet have to wait tell pay day but have been watching tons of tip videos to get ready. going to double dip get it for steam and ps5. from what i have seen so far Larian Studios might be even better with how in depth they are with choices meaning something. what are your guys thoughts?

If we end up seeing or getting DA 4 or Mass Effect 4 we'll be 70 years old

mass effect is still in pre-production so thats a long ways off. they scraped da4 one time and started over wouldn't be shocked if they did it again. i wonder if this is a studio problem or EA

Yeah the real bioware that made great games like DAO is dead. All key employees and founders aren't there anymore and its a soul-less corporation that only exists to pump out stale games that suck money out of gamers. Don't expect anything great from the formerly great AAA studios with these upcoming games like DA 4, Fable, etc.

Larian will continue to make good games as long as Sven doesn't sell out to a larger game company or a private equity firm or investor that will prioritize profit over gameplay.

Any great studio / indie dev who has this happen to them (due to previous success), you can typically consider them to be past their prime because they will need to create games with a profit-first motive (i'm not against capitalism or anything btw) than a gameplay / story first motive, in order to justify the sale price for the new investors.

yeah dragon age origin is their best one imo have over 500 hours in it. i still had fun with the others. i think because it was the first game i played that had choices and consequences i was just fascinated with it i was used to the final fantasy games
