Does difficulty scale with party size?
Is it possible to play as a single character and have the game scale in difficulty?

I hope not. Generally if you play a D&D game or similar solo its hard at the start, but you also aren't dividing the experience between multiple characters, so you will grow faster.

No

Not currently.

DOS2 had a "Lone Wolf" talent you could pick up which empowered characters significantly in a party of 1-2 characters max. DnD 5e obviously has no equivalent mechanic. Larian mentioned during earlier development that they were considering enabling such a mechanic in BG3, but it is currently not present, and we don't have any info on what it might look like or whether it is actually planned at this time.

True for BG1-2, but BG3 doesn't actually divide XP per party member, so the advantage wouldn't be present here.

Yeah, I remember lone wolf from DOS2. If the advantage of funneled xp isn't there for BG3 I wonder then if there will be other options for 2 character parties. Just wondering because not everyone may have 4 people to play wit, and those people may also not want to be forced to control 2 characters each.

I don't think how I play should impact others in a single player game, but balance-wise, I'm glad they dd this, because the whole party levels with you. This way there isn't the temptation to solo a large part of the early game to have a hugely overpowered party later.
