You most likely are confusing it with something, or deliberatly trying to cause a ruckus.
When B42 is available in beta you will have to opt into it if you want to play it before the devs consider it "stable" but that is not currently available (or at least not in open beta).
When it's ready.
When a new updoot drops, will i have to start a new game (world) in order for the changes to implement or do updoots populate in my current saved world?
yes. new save for sure. all your mods (if any will likely be broken too)
dont worry, build 42 will be a beta opt in at first while they continue to get it to stable.
If you want to beta 42 on release into wild, new save will be mandatory.
