The main thing they were hitting was people doing the following:
- Player A had a rare emblem on their associated Bungie Account - code-redeemed emblems, digital rewards, so anything not earned directly in-game basically.
- Player B pays (usually) Player A to link the two accounts together under Player A's Bungie Account,
- Player B would then see Player A's Bungie Account emblems in their own Collections and could pull a copy of it onto a character.
- The accounts are then unlinked.
Player B would no longer see that emblem in their Collections, but had the emblem on a character regardless, who could then use it at will.
Season 21's change stopped those emblems from working.
However one thing it also did is stopped preorder emblems being used over cross-save. If you have PSN and Steam cross-saved together, and you preordered Shadowkeep on PS, then this change prevents you from using 'Benighted Omen' while you are on Steam. It will still show in Collections but you can only use it when you play on Playstation.
Thanks for clearing that up!
