Remote Play Together Question
TTR is supposed to be remote play together capable. However when I try to play with my wife she is unable to join in. I have the full version of TTR with DLCs. But she does not.

She has an iPhone and I installed steam on her phone as well as steam Chat and steam link. She’s in my friends list. So when I invite her to join a game she sees the invite on steam chat (not within steam app - that’s a different issue altogether) and clicking on the invite just opens up a safari web page for steam link. Instead of opening up steam link. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Any help would be great.

Also if this does work - what sort of screen is she expecting to see. I keep reading information where when this works everyone sees everyone else’s cards? Is that correct?

Hi Donde. Remote Play I believe is possible if only one copy of ticket to ride is owned, but you must use the Pass n Play option and share your screen with your wife, which is what you sound like you are trying to do anyway. If you do get this working you will have the opportunity to look away when it is your wifes turn so that you do not see her cards and routes, but to be honest remote play does seem best for co-op games like the digital version of Pandemic where it doesnt matter who sees what ... on the screen. So, with all that considered, I'd advise you to buy your wife the base version of Ticket to Ride and play in LOCAL mode when you are both home and can use the same network. To play other maps she won't need any DLC's as long as you host the game. We used to play TTR with 5 players in local mode in the same house where 2 players used desktop pc's, 2 players used laptops and 1 player used their android mobile phone ...... and it worked a treat as long as we all used the same wired or wireless network connection. In fact Donde local play is almost a forgotten feature of games these days and I believe every digital board needs this option as its a real pain to go through an online server just to play games with other family members in the same house. Hope this advice helps.

Hi Wingding65 - It looks like you understand how this works. I want to play with people in two different homes, in addition to my own. Do we each need a copy of the game? I'm fine with buying copies if that is necessary, but I can't tell from all the different conflicting information. And if I do buy us all copies of the game, how do I get us to play together (something about a private lobby that I can't find directions for??)? Please help - I would really appreciate it! BHP

Hi Donde. If you want to play online without having to use the Remote Play option that shows everyone the screen, then yes individual copies of the game will be required. In fact I myself am just waiting for the Summer steam sale next month to purchase Ticket to Ride for my family as it should be very cheap to buy. As far as playing the game online is concerned, each person that has the game must create an ASMODEE DIGITAL account for themselves .... as Asmodee provide the server that the game runs through. This process is a little painful but once everyone has done it they will be able to use their account for TTR and other games that ASMODEE produce. For example we just bought 3 copies of Carcassonne and play it online using the same Asmodee accounts that we used for TTR and it works well. So before buying TTR for other people perhaps get them to check out the Asmodee Digital website and make free accounts for themselves and tell them to also note down their usernames and passwords as they will be needed when playing TTR online. I know what you are probably thinking at this point mate ... why make it so tedious and frustrating to setup TTR play online? The simple answer .. I don't know, I only know that TTR is one of our most loved board games and if this is what we have to do to play it with friends in other places then so be it. Good luck.
