You need a mic connected to beat Gunvolt's story - unless you alter some sound settings
Update 23/06/20

It turns out that

If you have a headset with a mic, she will use Paradise Lost (the slower version that requires singing).

To force her to use the faster Eden's Presence which does not require singing at all. You have to either:

Method 1: Disable professional mics like blue yeti such as input and output. I originally did say disable headset output audio but that is not true.

Method 2: If you like to listen to the sound through speakers instead of a headset, then this is ok. Probably disable any mics nearby before booting up the game first.

I leave my original topic starter below for historic purposes.

Yes it's faithful to the 3DS version where every system had a mic.
Yes, the target market will probably have at least a headset or mic to communicate to his/her friends through Skype/Discord/Facebook.

But the game doesn't have a failsafe if you don't have any microphones or in my case disabling them intentionally to force *final boss* to use the faster Eden's Presence attack instead.

So simply put if you don't have a mic connected at all, it's not possible to break the curse and even beat the game as Gunvolt.

Hold up, didn't they cut out that phase in the Switch/PS4 versions?

Yeah they did.

Oh man the ignorance and stupidity in this post. They gave the final boss another desperation move to make up for this. Do your homework next time.
So the game gives you the option between fighting the final boss with or without a mic? If that's the case, I really like that.
I remember you can beat the boss with a buff excalibur move or whatever is called, it does like 2 full bars of hp so you can skip the song btw

From a speedrunner's point of view via Story Mode not Runners Mode. Grand Strizer is too high of a level to be used during those attempts.

You clearly didn't read the paragraphs. I know PS4 and Switch versions has her using the alternative because those systems lack built in mics like the 3DS. PC version is always Paradise Lost. I tried disabling the mics brfore booting it up and she doesn't use the faster alternative.

Send me a video link of her using the alternative that is.
1) From PC version
2) Story Mode's final stage as GV.
3) Not an EX Stage/Runners Mode.

Bruh, I just beat the game with the final boss using Eden's Presence and not Paradise Lost.

Okay so, apparently both Paradise Lost and Eden's Presence are in the steam version according to the wiki. Paradise Lost only requires you to button mash in the steam version.

Although, I never encountered the move when fighting her. Only had to deal with her using Eden's Presence in the battle twice.

If the song was in English, I wouldn't mind. I got Paradise Lost and the Mic cue, but my mic was muted and I definitely didn't try to sing that song, yet it still worked out somehow, lol. How do you even encounter Eden's Presence? Is it RNG?

It might be button mashing as the post above me suggests, since I had Prevasion on for my first playthrough and was recharging by double tapping...

The wiki is probably inaccurate as I turned off all of the mics during Paradise Lost as it made no difference to the mic icon on the far right of the screen.
Here is an actual video of me mashing on many actions as possible.

I don't have a mic and I haven't encountered Paradise Lost. She used Eden's Presence both times I cleared that stage.

What button you need to mash when she uses Paradise Lost?

I am using a headset that has a mic but the mic is disabled (to test if the attack changes which it didn't).
So my only guess is that what if I disabled the headset completely.. did you play with a headset that has a mic attached or just usual speakers?
Akutare 23 Jun @ 1:56pm
Just usual speakers. My guess, based on some other PC ports by Japanese developers, is that if you have any mic connected to your computer when you open the game, it will make the boss use Paradise lost.

I don't really understand what exactly you're doing wrong. But I beat her without a mic earlier today without a hitch.

Yep. I disabled headset sound output (as a way to hear it because disabling headset's mic isn't enough) and she used Eden's Presence.

Edit:
I did another test by disabling my blue yeti for both input and output audio. That worked better because I can actually hear audio through my headset and deal with Eden's Presence.
