Crash on ESC
Playing the demo, and I can play the game as usual until I press ESC or the main menu while in game. Sometimes it works once or twice but after pressing the button or hotkey often enough the game will crash.

I tried fiddling with the settings and deleting the few save games I made but nothing seems to work. Running as administrator, disabling anti-virus et cetera. I've also looked in the event viewer and it's just a regular 0xc0000005 error, could be anything. Never really had this problem before and no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Just tested, game seems to be working fine on my laptop. Also windows 10, so not sure what the cause might be.

I'm having the same issue. High end machine, running the game on 1440p screen. I can start the game fine but any time I hit ESC in the starting bedroom, the game crashes.

Update for my situation. I updated my GPU drivers, disabled my anti virus, disabled RivaTuner, MSI afterburner and all the software applications for my Logitech Controller and I'm no longer suffering from any crashes. I'm busy with other stuff now but I'll pin down the actual cause later.

For now, if anyone has any problems disable all software that you no longer need prior to launching the game and update your drivers.

Edit: It was MSI afterburner + RTSS somehow.. Even after disabling RTSS afterburner is still causing the crashes.

Thank you VERY much for this troubleshooting. I have reason to believe the next patch will fix this problem ... The SDL2 engine we use may have been patched to prevent these incompatibilities. Until then, I'll make sure to add this info to our support page.

I have both, I will try disabling both and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip!

I've also gotten reports that the problem also involves Steam. As in, MSI afterburner has issues with Steam (google "MSI afterburner Steam" to learn more), and the issues with Queen's Wish are really bad.

Try turning off Steam overlay for Queen's Wish and see if that helps.

Also, you can contact us at support@spiderwebsoftware.com and we can get you a full non-Steam DRM-free version and there's a very good chance that will work.
