Buddy Pass and Co-op FAQ
Hey everyone!

It's almost time to head back to the year 1980 as Jess and Soph Blazkowicz, on a mission to locate their missing father--while kicking the Reich out of Paris! Wolfenstein: Youngblood is the first co-op game in the series, and like a good buddy, we're here to answer all your questions about multiplayer in this FAQ!

What are the options for co-op play in Wolfenstein: Youngblood?
Clicking "Play Game" or "Continue Game" will take you to the Play Game menu; once there, you will have three options:

  • Host Game – Host a game and set your co-op join preferences (including solo play!)
  • Quickmatch – Join a co-op game via matchmaking
  • Join Game – Join a co-op game through a browser menu

Host Game
From the Host Game menu, you have several options:

  • Who Can Join – this setting allows you to choose your preferences for who can join your game:
    • Public (Online) – anyone can join your game
    • Friends Only (Online) – only players on your friends list can join your game
    • Private (Online) – no one can join your game unless you specifically invite them
    • Nobody (Offline) – select this option if you want to play solo, with an AI companion
  • Invite – displays your friends who are online who own the game
  • Use Buddy Pass – invite a friend to download and play the trial version of the game
Once you've made your selections, click Start Game to begin your adventure!

Quickmatch
Select this option to use the matchmaking system to be matched with a random player.

Join Game
Displays a list of open games available to join.

A note on cross-region play
When hosting a public online game or selecting "Quickplay," players in one region (i.e. NA) who wish to play with random users in another region (i.e. EU) will need to manually set their desired region from the in-game menu. You will not need to change your region to invite a friend from a different region to play with you. No change to region is required to invite any friend, regardless of location, to play in your game.

This only applies to public games with matchmaking. The region setting is on “Auto” by default, which will detect and set your region.

International and Sanitized version matchmaking
GSA players using the sanitized copy of the game will be able to matchmake with players using the International version. Sanitized copy experience does not change.

Steam & BNET Friends integration
Yes, Steam players and BNET Launcher players can play together on PC!

Please note that if you connect your BNET account to Steam while your Steam profile is set to "Private," you will not be able to import your friends list in Wolfenstein: Youngblood. This is working as intended as both Steam and Bethesda.net respect your data privacy. You will need to temporarily set your account to Public, launch the game, and then you may reset it to Private. From there, you're good to go!

I have the Buddy Pass, how do I invite a friend to play for free?
You can use the Buddy Pass to invite anyone on your platform and friends list who has installed the Wolfenstein: Youngblood Demo. This will let your friend play the ENTIRE GAME alongside you! Both players also must not have their privacy settings set to “Private,” as you won’t be seen as online with that setting selected.

On PC (Bethesda.net or Steam):
  1. Launch Wolfenstein: Youngblood
  2. Select Play Game (or Continue Game)
  3. Select Host Game
  4. Select use Buddy Pass
  5. Select the friend you wish to invite*

*Your friend must have launched the Wolfenstein: Youngblood Demo and created a character before they can join your game.

Can I use the Buddy Pass to invite multiple people?
While you can only play online co-op with one other player at a time, you may use the Buddy Pass to invite as many friends as you like to play alongside you.

Are there limitations for Demo version players?
If you are invited by a friend who owns the Buddy Pass to play Wolfenstein: Youngblood, you can play and progress through the entire game. However, access to all gameplay and features requires an invitation from a Buddy Pass owner, and you will not be able to play the game solo or with another player who does not own the Buddy Pass.

Demo version players who purchase the game will have their progress carried over and will be able to host and join games, or play solo!

When can players download the Trial version?
The Wolfenstein: Youngblood Demo version is now up on the Wolfenstein: Youngblood Steam store page!

Where will the Trail version be available? Is it BNET exclusive or will there be a Steam version (e.g. with achievements) aswell?

Probably, some say it might be possible to play solo without an account but i'd say you probably need it no matter what

This kind of concerns me...what exactly do you mean by trial? Can we not play the entire game together?

I have a question to ask. What if I am playing the game and I use buddy pass to invite my friend №1, we pass several mission and then I want to invite my friend №2. Would we start at the beginning or we continue playing from the mission I stopped playing with my friend №1?

The question I have is the following: if my friend downloads the trial version, will my friend be able to play the full game with me?
