Wolfenstein: Youngblood Known Issues

Hey everyone!

Wolfenstein: Youngblood launches July 25 at 1 PM ET | 5 PM UTC. Here is a list of known issues players might encounter, and how to resolve them.

GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING

Here are things you can try first to resolve issues in the game:

• Reset your video options to what was auto-detected for your graphics card.
  
• Go into the Advanced Video Options menu and lower the quality of some of the settings.
  
• Switch to a lower resolution.
  
• Change the antialiasing options.
  
• Make sure you are not running any other programs in the background.
  
• It's generally recommended that you update the drivers for your respective video card when encountering game issues:

"Could not write crash dump" error

“Could not write crash dump” is the default error message given when the game client crashes and could be caused by several reasons. If you are encountering this message, particularly when attempting to start the game, here are some things to look at:

• Please verify that your PC meets the minimum specifications of the game:
  
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    
  • OS: Win7, 8.1, or 10 (64-Bit versions)
    
  • Processor: AMD FX-8350/Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-3570/i7-3770
    
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 770 4GB (Current available GPU GTX1650) or AMD equivalent
    
  • Storage: 40 GB available space
• Frequently, this error occurs due to old drivers or drivers that did not have a clean installation. (For example, users who upgraded to a video card from a different manufacturer without uninstalling their previous drivers.) Make sure you have the latest drivers, and it is recommended that you perform a clean install using tools such as Display Driver Uninstaller[www.guru3d.com].

GAMEPLAY ISSUES

ISSUE: Why can't I invite or join a friend in Wolfenstein: Youngblood?
RESOLUTION: Both players must be playing on PC. (Steam users and players launching from the BNET Launcher can play together.) You both must also have your in-game privacy settings set to either “Public” or “Friends Only.”

ISSUE: Why can't I pick up a grenade thrown by the host in online co-op?
RESOLUTION: We are aware of an issue where grenades thrown by the host cannot be picked up by the client. We are working on resolving this in a future patch.

ISSUE: Why am I not finding a match when using Quickmatch?
RESOLUTION: Quickmatch required another player to be available in the game and both players must have their privacy settings set to "Public" to for it to function.

ISSUE: What should I do if the AI companion is stuck or non-responsive?
RESOLUTION: If your AI companion becomes stuck or non-responsive, back out of gameplay to the Main Menu then re-join the game.

ISSUE: Why doesn't the AI attempt to hide or seek cover in combat?
RESOLUTION: Once you install the Day 1 patch, the AI companion will attempt to take evasive maneuvers using strafe points where those points are available.

ISSUE: Why doesn't the AI companion attack my tagged enemy?
RESOLUTION: The AI companion will attempt to prioritize an enemy tagged by the player; however, it will still engage in combat with other enemies. If many enemies are between the companion and the target, the companion will choose to engage with those enemies first.

ISSUE: Why is the AI companion not assisting?
RESOLUTION: The companion may fail to assist if you hold a co-op interaction as the companion respawns or revives. If this happens, cancel the interaction and try again.

ISSUE: Zeppelin: AI companion can become mostly unresponsive if the player dies when first dropping into the casino of the Zeppelin level
RESOLUTION: If the player moves far away from the AI companion, the AI companion may teleport to the player and once again become responsive.

ISSUE: Zeppelin: Objective will not update to “Find the Code” or “Read the Floppy Disk” if level is reloaded during either stage
RESOLUTION: We are currently looking into resolving this issue.

ISSUE: Zeppelin: Objective to Exit Crew Quarters has no objective marker in world or on mini map
RESOLUTION: We are currently looking into resolving this issue.

ISSUE: Lab X: Letting go of an elevator lever after taking the elevator down then up will cause lever to become non-interactible
RESOLUTION: Player must leave the area and return to reset the lever.

ISSUE: Side Mission: The Protohund: Marker for "Destroy the Protohund" and "Collect the Box" present when mission is not active
RESOLUTION: We are currently looking into resolving this issue.

ISSUE: Side Mission: “Zitadelle Schematics” Marker for find floppy is not displayed on minimap
RESOLUTION: We are currently looking into resolving this issue.

ISSUE: Client is removed from game at the end of the credits
RESOLUTION: We are currently looking into resolving this issue.

ISSUE: What are the controls for Wolf3D (Wolfstone) in Wolfenstein: Youngblood?
RESOLUTION: The Wolf3D menus can be navigated with the W/A/S/D keys, Spacebar for confirmations, and CTRL for going back.

OPTIONS ISSUES

ISSUE: Why can't I change the "Who Can Join" privacy settings in Wolfenstein: Youngblood?
RESOLUTION: You must leave the game to change the privacy settings to adjust who may join your game.

ISSUE: I am unable to capture gameplay when attempting to Stream fullscreen gameplay using software (OBS, etc.)
RESOLUTION: This is caused by an issue with the Vulkan render API and streaming software when the game is in fullscreen mode. Adding the cvar r_streamingCaptureFix 1 to the launch arguments (Steam) or local config file (BNET) will allow streaming software to work with the game fullscreen.

SAVE/LOAD

ISSUE: Zeppelin: Objective won't update to "Kill General Winkler" after reloading checkpoint
RESOLUTION: Player may encounter if they lose the fight to General Winkler and reload the last checkpoint.

ISSUE: How can I manually delete my saves?
RESOLUTION: Saves must be manually deleted. On Windows, your default Save Game folder is located at: C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\MachineGames\ Wolfenstein Youngblood\base\savegame.

ACHIEVEMENTS

ISSUE: The Host got an achievement and the Client did not (or vice versa)
RESOLUTION: Achievements are tracked separately between host and client. The client must complete the Achievement.

ISSUE: The Host got the Partisan achievement and Client did not
RESOLUTION: This achievement can be interrupted by a disconnect during quest completion. The player who did not receive the achievement should host their own game and complete the needed quest.

OTHER KNOWN ISSUES

ISSUE: Why does voice chat cut out during loading screens?
RESOLUTION: We are aware of this issue and we are working to resolve it in a future patch.

ISSUE: What can I do if Wolfenstein: Youngblood is not displaying properly in Windows?
RESOLUTION: DPI scaling larger than 100% may cause display issues. Set your DPI scaling to 100% to resolve this issue.

ISSUE: On the Bethesda.Net Launcher, the Trial version of game remains available in launcher after installing the full version
RESOLUTION: We are currently aware of this issue and working on resolving it.

ISSUE: Wolfenstein: Youngblood may sometimes lock when switching from one monitor to a 4K monitor using HDMI cable
RESOLUTION: We are currently looking into a fix for this issue. We recommend using a DisplayPort cable between the PC and a 4K monitor instead of a HDMI cable.

ISSUE: The EKW and Blitzgewehr display incorrectly on an Ultra Widescreen monitor when sprinting and double jumping
RESOLUTION: Because Ultra Widescreen (UWS) monitors have different FOV settings and resolutions, players may encounter some display issues. We are aware of this and are looking to resolve the issue in a future update.

ISSUE: Changing sync settings has a low chance of causing a crash
RESOLUTION: Play Wolfenstein: Youngblood with sync enabled if you are experiencing crashing with sync disabled.

ISSUE: In Windows 10, the Game Bar cannot be used in fullscreen mode and may sometimes cause instability issues on certain PC setups
RESOLUTION:[/b] Disable the Windows Game Bar via the “Xbox on Windows 10” PC App settings.

ISSUE: Changing the async setting on cards where the option is exposed (NVIDIA 10 & 20 series cards) may cause a crash
RESOLUTION: Deleting the config file (located in the “base” folder of the save game directory) can resolve this issue.

ISSUE: Disconnecting audio devices during gameplay can cause audio to cut out or persist. With certain Bluetooth headphones, audio may cut out when the player dies
RESOLUTION: Reboot Wolfenstein: Youngblood to resolve the missing audio issue.

ISSUE: Alt+Tab can sometimes cause instability on certain systems, particularly during cutscenes
RESOLUTION: Alt+Tab while in fullscreen mode is not officially supported.

ISSUE: Disconnecting a PlayStation 4 controller from PC or using another input method while a PlayStation 4 controller is connected causes a persistent “Up” input
RESOLUTION: Reconnecting the PlayStation 4 controller or pausing the game with the keyboard will resolve the issue.

ISSUE: Wolfenstein: Youngblood does not launch on Windows 8.1 with last supported AMD driver for Win 8.1 (driver version 17.7.2)
RESOLUTION: AMD no longer supports Windows 8.1 video driver updates.

ISSUE: Launching the title with an interlaced refresh rate on an AMD GPU will cause the game to revert to non-interlaced refresh rate.
RESOLUTION: Interlaced refresh rates are not supported in Wolfenstein: Youngblood.

ISSUE: Are AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround supported?
RESOLUTION: AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround are not currently supported.

ISSUE: Are NVIDIA SLI and AMD Crossfire support?
RESOLUTION: NVIDIA SLI and AMD Crossfire are not supported.

I have nvidia videocard now (this is important), but before that i had amd card.
This method helped me:
Open the "windows" directory, next open the
"system32" directory (c:\windows\system32).
Delete two files (I recommend backing up the two files, copy other directory):
- "amdvlk64.dll"
- "amd-vulkan64.json"
Run the game and i hope we are happy! :)

I'm sorry this helped me but I think there are many other problems. It took me several hours to get it working. :/

I am not able to play with my buddy because he is being disconnected every time when the action start. I assume that I am the host and my connection has to be perfect? I tried from a different locations (I use a laptop) and still the same. If it won't be solved I will get a refund, I simply cannot play coop with my buddy.

Sometimes when I'm customizing my weapons or upgrading my character the game just freezes for no reason and I have to force quit the game, this is getting really annoying. pls fix it.

The audio issue with the flashlight? i didnt see it listed. But when you use the flashlight it makes your audio glitch out

Please, fix soon as possible the disconnection in game, it's ruining the coop experience disconecting the game or getting stuck the player and NPC when the game is "lagging"

This is pretty much the only one but all fixes are from new colossus (past Wolfenstein game and very little work)

Still waiting but devs replied to another thread, I hope they get it fixed before my pre order refund time is up.

"ISSUE: Side Mission: “Zitadelle Schematics” Marker for find floppy is not displayed on minimap."

I apologize if someone already said this, but I think I know the reason this problem occurs.

I was playing with a friend who already finished the Zitadelle Schematics mission while I had the quest. Even though the quest didn't display in his game because he'd already finished it and he was hosting, the actual three disks for the quest were available to pick-up in his game and I found them with the upgrade that marks collectibles on the mini-map. These were definitely the Zitadelle schematic disks because I decoded them and said they were disk Zitadelle schematic 1 and 3.

When I returned to my own game, I already had 2 out of 3 disks but my quest log didn't acknowledge this. After I finished the objective for opening up the shortcut, the quest marker led me to disk 2, then after collcting it the waypoint just updated to take me through the rest of the facility. Since the other two disks are already in my inventory, I can't recollect them (looked up a guide to see if they respawned and just aren't marked, they're not) and I'm stuck at 1/3 disks collected with no way to proceed.

I hope this information is useful, and if anyone knows a workaround I'm all ears.

So, the "crash dump" problem. Game went well until Paris catacombs, then error occured. Then, game started closing up, even without starting, no troubleshooting. "Dancing" with drivers, reinstalling, file verification went unproductive. Should I wait for fix/help or refund?

inb4, other games work perfectly.
