It's not a problem with Terraria, it's just that Windows by default does not recognize Playstation controllers.
You'll have to download some software off the internet to configure it. The one I used to use no longer works so I don't know of any other ones. Just have to Google a bit, I guess.

Try downloading DS3 Tool, I've been using it for ages with a PS3 controller and it works perfectly.

i use that software always, but the servers of the program are down and dont work anymore T_T
