difficulty settings please
i know that a certain kind of gamer is going to get upset about this post
but please can we have a difficulty setting?
not saying to nerf the game, there are obviously a lot of people who enjoy games that make them angry and they enjoy the feeling of breaking down the wall
but there are a lot of people, i know i'm not alone, who don't feel like they have a real chance, especially in the arenas
(why are there so many arenas?)
the cuebone enemies, for example, are so much harder than any of the bosses i've encountered so far
a setting to just say "i am but a baby" where it reduces the big lad's health by a bit and reduces their damage would make the game a lot more accessible for people who don't find this level of difficulty to be engaging
coz this game is a /lot/ more unforgiving and, at times, unfair than hollow knight was

p.s. i don't care if you beat it in 12 hours with no hits and you 100%'d it while also doing a rubic's cube
team cherry work hard to craft interesting narratives and a great visual style that has endured for years of silence. opening that experience up to as many people as possible can only ever mean more money to keep the lights on and make more games

Help yourself and mod the game?
You can already find anything from double rosaries to invincibility...
I don't know why people try and gatekeep a game and say it doesn't need difficulty settings and then worry that a game will get nerfed because of people complaining about the difficulty, when difficulty options would fix that problem entirely.

Have you ever heard of artistic freedom?
If a studio thinks their game shouldn't have difficulty options, then you have to respect this.

The end result when restricting visions can be seen in Justice League (2017) vs Justice League Snyder Cut (2021).

So yeah, if you want JL (2017) go and mod the game, but don't dumb it to that level for everyone.

Easy difficulty modes aren't dumbing down the game. There still exists playing it on normal difficulty. Also I've played hard games with difficulty options like Nine Sols, that do the job just fine.

Also it's really dumb to compare a game difficulty setting with a theatrical cut for a movie. Those aren't remotely comparable to each other.

Difficulty settings alter the artistic vision and introduce more need for testing, so if the developers doesn't WANT to offer it - they don't have to.

You can mod the game if you want.

It's like if players who enjoy difficult games keep spamming posts in a Nintendo forum "Please give us Super Mario Bros Hell Difficulty!!!! The game is too easy for me!!!!".

Guess what, it's a game for primarily children, it's not going to be difficult. Yet nobody of the people who enjoy difficult games cry about it. What is it with all the people who enjoy easy games crying about games being too tough? Just move on.
I literally have beat hard games before, difficulty isn't the problem. I like hard games, but other people might not like the challenge as much as me.

It's just a lot of the arguments against having difficulty options are kind of sh*t, because games like Nine Sols do easier difficulty options just fine.

Nine Sols had the story mode, and it didn't alter the vision because standard mode still existed. What excuse does Silksong have?

Doesn't need an easy mode, they just need to do some balance patching, too many enemies deal double damage for no reason

Can y'all low-skill gamers stop telling developers what to do. Just practice and keep playing.

Being bad at a game (or games in general) is not a bad thing. Blaming the developer for your lack of skill/patience is immature.

Finally, someone who actually understands.

Artistic freedom.
Art doesn't have to cater to you.
If you like the Mona Lisa, but you want it to have a moustache.
You don't go to the Louvre and modify the original painting.
Feel free to download a digital photography/copy and modify it there, for yourself, with a moustache and maybe some tattoos.

Same goes for this game, if the developers don't want difficulty options, feel free to download a mod.
Sounds like it's time for you to focus up.

Okay. Now downloading mods. Will start playing the game again tomorrow, had enough punishment for the night. I'll come back and post again if this improves the game any...

There is also no shame in that.
I hope you can enjoy the game more!
