The Chinese translation of the demo shown in Cologne is terrible
If there are no changes in the official version, I am afraid there is a risk of bad reviews.
I have wait for silksong at least six years, it is a pity that maybe I have to play it in English to avoid the terrible translation.

Hope TC can take this issue seriously, it is really important to us.

If the demo’s text reflects what we’ll see in the final release, I must say the translation style in the demo differs greatly from the first game. Many lines feel unnatural, and some are even quite awkward or confusing in Chinese.

I understand that making large-scale changes to localization before release is a huge challenge. However, I sincerely hope that Team Cherry will recognize this issue in time and reassess whether the current Chinese translation truly meets the quality standards expected.

After all, a vast number of Chinese players have waited six long years for Silksong. For us, being able to enjoy a polished and immersive experience at launch is crucial. Please don’t let the translation compromise that.:meephappy:

Damn, that's surprising. Would be better to just not have the translations and add them later than to have bad ones...
The Chinese translation is actually worse than just reading the original English

It's so good that Steam is introducing sorting by reviews by language. Again, Chinese players will review bomb the game. Now at least other countries won't see this on their main pages and it won't scare off other players.

Since there are trading cards of silksong in Steam market, I have to say the translation of these cards are not satisfying.
For example, the card "Hornet" has been translated as "名为黄蜂", where “名为” means "named as", and "黄蜂" means wasp, meanwhile "大黄蜂" is the official name of Hornet in Hollow Knight. The lost character "大" is the difference between wasp and hornet in Chinese.
And I am quite confused, why all the other cards are named by characters' name, but only hornet's card is translated as "名为黄蜂", or directly translate back to English as "named as wasp"?
Other words like "覆面者"(correspond to "veiled bugs"), "丝咒" (seems correspond to "haunted madness") etc are all weirdo in Chinese. I don't know if these word are effected by the whole story/background of silksong, at least by reading these original sentence over cards, I can't accept this localization.

Seems like you unfortunately predicated it.

And you were completely right.
Team Cherry committed such a big blunder on not validating the chinese translations.

I'm glad we can filter reviews from your language now. Bunch of arrogant nationalists review bombing everything on Steam nowadays. The average in every other language is 97% but Chinese gamers review bombed the game to a 59% in their language, bringing down the overall average to 91%. Your actions are harming game studios.

a welcome feature indeed. however, if there is an actual problem with the game, then it's not fair to call it review bombing. it's just irrelevant to people who speak other languages.
