Activation code not working

I bought the game, and as a few people my activation code does not work, anyone know how to fix this or get around it?

I found out, you have to redeem it on the sims website (right click it and press redeem code) then download origin and install it from there, a bit annoying.

Go to the ea website and live chat with support, its more easier then posting a thread you actually get a response

Mine doesn't work either, very confused, why you have to download origin?

because origin is run or connected to EA, so they can deal with things on there, but its worth a try, just to redeem the game on the sims website and register with origin and you should be able to download it on origin, its a bit of a pain but worth it if you dont want to loose out

Not at all, I didn't own sims 3 befor buying and managing to play it, so on that basis I'm presuming you don't need it.

In the end I had to get Origin and just play it through that

Yeah, it's a pretty annoying way to go around it, but at the end of the day atleast any EA games you want can be brought directly from origin and will work.

Here's the thing though, the game works. I'm able to play it. So what's the purpose of the code?

I assume you run Windows XP?

EA's DRM in the launcher doesn't work with (Win 7?) and Win 8 and they've only updated the version on Origin to bypass the launcher and not the Steam version.

No, I have a windows 7. I don't know what else to tell you. I can play the game just fine without the activation code. I assumed it was for something else. Unless I'm missing something.
