Higurashi When They Cry
AshranQ 6/nov/2012 às 16:34
Will this include all the storylines?
Only Onikakushi or all the storylines from "Higurashi no naku koro ni" to "Higurashi no naku koro ni Rei" or what?

If MangaGamer will release Higurashi like on their site, this will include the first 4 arcs: the "Question" arcs. They are: Onikakushi, Watanagashi, Tatarigoroshi and Himatsubushi.

The Answer arcs are in Higurashi Kai, another game (I think they'll add it if this will get on Steam).

Rei will never be there, since it's JAP only.

Rei hasn't been officially translated and sold sadly.

To get Rei you can buy the Japanese version and use the English language patch, which is floating around the internet.

Shame if its only the question arcs, they are good but it would be annoying without the answer ones on here. Allthough I would still buy it to support the developers and hopefully see more VN's on steam.

I know that Animation Show, However Strange Title , it is.

I think "When the Higurashi's Cry" would have been a more accurate translation.

P.S. A Higurashi is a species of cicada.

When They Cry isn't meant to be a translation of the title. It's the official name used for the overall franchise (Higurashi + Umineko) in Japan.

When They Cry = Higurashi
When They Cry 2 = Higurashi Kai
When They Cry 2+ = Higurashi Rei
When They Cry 3 = Umineko
When They Cry 4 = Umineko Chiru
When They Cry 4+ = Umineko Tsubasa

I'm aware of that, it is just that the title in English doesn't make much sense with the current word order.

"When They Cry: Higurashi" or "Higurashi, When They Cry" would have been a better choice.

The english translation of the the brand name is a common matter of discussion since MangaGamer released the translated game X°°

No one is talking about the topic - but it seems to be the question arcs only. However those are really long and worth every penny so that's fine with me.

Just read my first post, it explains pretty directly.

I'm going to agree with previous posters. You can't just have only the question arcs without the answer arcs. That is the reason that this story didn't make it as when released as an Anime in the US. The first season, the question arcs, was released in the US and confused the hell out just about everybody which in turn killed the series here. Without the answer arcs, this artfull mastery of a story is wasted. The answer arcs must immediately follow or the attempt is pointless.

Buying the Japanese version of Rei doesn't support piracy -_-
It just shows there is a market for an official English version.

MangaGamer didn't translate Rei because they don't think they can gain a profit from it. Higurashi and Higurashi Kai didn't sell enough to convince them.

If Higurashi does get accepted on Steam maybe they will reconsider.
