To Stratics Community: Stop Deceiving Yourselves!
After the game is put on greenlight, people on uo stratics start to blame us for negative comments about the game, they are assuming that we are recruits of freeshards. Well, the statement is half true actually because I am playing UO on freeshards but it doesn't mean that they "sent" me here to make negative comments, it means that those freeshards are worth playing it rather than OSI. Seriously, do you even believe in what you say? The current UO is HORRIBLE, nobody wants a carebear world or super items with billions of properties like a diablo game. We just want a pre-aos style server with good portions added from other expansions also. We are not saying that aos directly killed the game, there were always good patches that added more functionality for skills, added fun (high seas for example) but Trammel ruleset? No dude, have fun in your casual world, it kills risk vs. reward, the economy inflates directly, even though BroadSwordGames creates a new shard, it will inflate in 1-2 months. The game is now purely based on PvM, items are "precious" that caused insurance system to show up, people don't want to lose anything because you made the items valuable, rather than the old times where losing items didn't matter much.

We do not want Trammel, we do not want diablo-ish items, resistance types etc. Just give us a pre-aos customized with good features of other expansions, so that we have no reason to play on freeshards.

That, and EA still wants $13/mo for this dial-up dinosaur, are the biggest turn-offs.

Oh, and EA abusing Greenlight through a "new" studio formed from a Mythic skeleton team is also in poor taste.

Maybe if nobody plays it EA will just quit and give the IP back to RG?

/me knows that'll never happen but let me dream, okay?

I do wish they would link the stratics forums to the greenlight page. This would allow people who are thinking of buying the game to see how bad it is.

It's the same pool of 15-20 posters. Anyone who mentions the monthly sub fee is outdated or asks for classic shards generally get an instant perma ban.

Nothing more than a short term cash grab using the game's name.

Reading that Stratics thread, aside from the occasional bit of common sense that is largely ignored by their staff and regulars, the denial is almost like listening to a bunch of Deadheads refusing to understand that Jerry is long gone.

They've been drinking the EA Flavor Aid for so long that it has apparently become the core of their being to regurgitate the same crap EA/OSI said of freeshards when reception of Age of S*** was largely negative and spawned the primary reason why freeshards exist - the players wanted the game EA/OSI wasn't interested in offering anymore.

It all is quite darkly amusing when you also consider that EA is still clinging to the subscription model of $13/mo in hopes of making the game break even on the few remaining players left. Even more amusing when you consider that apparently the ubiquitous item/gold-sellers might actually be turning more of a profit than those running the game itself, utterly crapping on the excuses against a more affordable model if but the current mismanagement only had a clue of the industry at large, not the slice of a small, codependent audience.
