CLOSE AIR SUPPORT (Day 2)
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

IDEAS?: Close Air Support Squadron (MP)
I hope the userbase of SP CAS can help me come up with some ideas for the MP version. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

LOCATION:
- In Altis
- 10+ different task locations (need ideas)

UNITS (24):
(? or 48 if I add 24 for each side.. and make this true MP +AI.. opinions ?)
- 8 spots open for helo pilots
- 4 spots open for jet pilots
- 8 spots open for 2 squads of optional ground troops
- 3 repair specialists
- 1 spot open for JTACs
- (JTAC player can switch to any JTAC at any Task at any time)

RESPAWNABLE VEHICLES:
- 8 Attack Helos
- 3 MH9s (for repair specs)
- 2 Ghost Hawks
- 4 Fixed Wing Aircraft (2 AA, 2 CAS)

TASKS:
- Pure CAS
- Tank Busting
- Convoy Escort
- Troop Insertion
- Tasks are successful based on clearing all of other side from AO (smoke reveals)
- Tasks are failure based on your sides troops falling below 25% of original population at AO
- JTAC pumps smoke every 2min to reveal sides locations locations

TRIGGERING NEW TASKS (important, need ideas)
- Thinking about making a ready room where all pilots must be present before the next task will execute. Upon execution of task, there's a wall screen that shows stills of overview, with voice recordings giving briefing. QUESTION: Do you think requiring all pilots to be in ready room before next task will start is going to be a problem?

ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY IDEAS:
- Please provide any ideas, and if they don't belong in the above catagories I'll put them here.

When playing the official BI coop missions you can edit some parameters before starting, in the DEFEND mission you can choose the number of waves before the evac heli is called in for example. Something like a ready room would be a nice thing to edit here, if playing with random people you could turn it off.

How about typical "roof" insertions. Like using the heli pad at the hopital on Altis?

About the triggering, it would be a nice feature, but it I think its important that it dont happend to often. If the briefing takes 10 min, and mission 5 min, youll get the sence of beeing to "much" in the briefing room.

It should atleast require all teamleaders, all the other could be optionable.

The SP mission was AWESOME, but if there is going to be a COOP version - then I think PLAYER FACs, rather than scripted method, should provide all target data and direction to pilots.

FAC/Recon Group x6 (jtac/sniper/spotter/jfo ext.) calling in Arty and CAS would make a lot of people I know very happy.

mission flow:
getTask
AirCav Inserts FAC/recon group^
FAC uses the Pilots & arty on call to complete mission.
Extract
Return to ready room. (weapons and ammo)
getTask (new)
[loop]

This way each task has elements of everything. Air cav is inserting, attack choppers are escorting, followed by pure cas.

anyway, I like your mission flow idea, going from task to task via a briefing room. I just think since it's coop it need less scripting, more teamwork.

PS: AH-99 Pilots should have UAV terminals so they can lase targets for their gunners :D

Idk if anyone else finds casevac and transporting missions more interesting than air combat. But imho it would be great if same mechanics as seen in this scenario are put on a Parajumpers subject. Emergency exfil, medevac missions combined with that cool feature like switching between pilots and ground team = epicness.
The same kind of Stratis but with the possibility of choosing between AI or real player as co-pilot.

I think def. have some squadron based combat objectives. Add some helos for transport, and the ability to call CAS in, but the CAS would of course be human players.

Search & Rescue. Could be delivering ammo crate, or just picking up vehicle to return to base, or delivering Armoured vehicle to ground troops. Mine laying at sea.
Again all these using the transport script I suggested and posted above.

I like the idea of doing this as a 2 man co-op, much the same as the single but with your buddy as gunner or vica versa. Need some patrols and or Tanks to splode as well. Absolutely brilliant mission by the way, thank you.

I would like to use this as small scale Air Trainingg amd Co-ordination server. So I could train 8 Pilots, 4 in Attack Helicopters, 2 in Transports maybe the last 2 as crewmen or Observation Helicopters. Is there any plans to open this out to may 6 or so MP Slots to allow it as a Clan Training tool?

I think it would work best as an organized group sort of thing. Otherwise it could get out of hand. You don't have to have everyone in the ready room for the next task to be assigned, but everybody would have to be on teamspeak and collaborating well to stay organized. It sounds like a great idea to me. especially once we have the A-10, whether it comes from BI studios or not :)

I think doing some missions with troops on the ground, maybe clearing a compound with a helo is CAS role, and another pilot flying a MERT helo, in case any of the guys are wounded on the ground, it could be written in as another task if a guy gets shot?
Just an idea, im not very switched on with the coding so it might not even work, but the idea is there :)

Hey man, once again, nice job on this mission. I havent found any other I want to play yet! A couple things I'd love to see is maybe an ability to call for fire with artillery support...?? And second, maybe a chance to survive a crash, get out on foot, do some forward observing along with calling in for fire on target and finally, search and rescue...?? Just my wishes.

If you design this mission, is it possible to add Franz and nodunits AH64 Apache maybe 2 units. the vehicle id is "fza_ah64d_b2e" Below is a link to the mod. It has controls files for Arma3.
