Going into this?
I am curious to know how far back the birth of this project goes,
and what kind of background each of you have?
Your initial thoughts on timeframe for the project as a whole
The reason I ask is because I am working on pre-production on a game with a friend,
and we hope get into the whole Greenlight/Kickstarter circus in 2 years or so.

Hope you guys succeed. Candle looks incredible without a doubt.
Looking forward to get my hands on the gameplay.
But like I mentioned in the comments... 120 $ for a beta slot... A bit steep.

Hi Punckrockster, thanks for writing us. You have a little background in the campaign page text, if you want to check it out :)

We began working on several ideas and prototipes almost 3 years ago. We started putting our ideas together, and trying to get the best engine we could, etc. We made a lot of trial and error (we were just 19), and after almost a year of concepting and prototyping, the core idea of Candle just came out of nowhere. Then, we decided to go for it and spent almost a year of early development.

Then, we reached one point where our limitations exceeded our goals, and so we decided to calm down, think everything twice and start again. At that point, we decided that Torque2D (our previous engine) couldn't help us achieve what we wanted for Candle, and so we licensed Unity and restarted the development again (a year and a half ago). Since then, we've built a team, worked as hard as we can, and got what you've seen as a result.

It's very important to have lots of previous work. Many prototypes, lots of art, lots of trial and error... the more you iterate, the better the final quality of your definitive game. Hope all this helps you, if you need further advice, please feel free to ask.

As for the Beta Tester pledge... its a hard decission, since the physical rewards and delivery costs are very expensive, but we are trying hard to include new, cheaper rewards this week.

Anyone who remembers to mention the Oddworld games when talking platformers,
