Fish vs Crabs - Blood and Gore?
Ok. So I just wanted to take a quick poll. This game naturally features fish munching and chomping on crabs.

Do you want to see shrimp and crab body parts? Do you want the option to turn this on in the game?

Yes. Yes

For me it wouldn't matter, but some people may be turned off by the gore.

I would NOT want to see blood and gore, so there should definitely be a way to turn such things off if they were present in the game.

Strictly speaking, it wouldn't be actual blood and gore. It would be spitting out shells as they chew, but I get your point. It should definitely be optional.

What you have now is only as much as one would see if observing the sea life during a reef dive or nature program. Is it accurate to describe the expulsions of non-digestible parts as "blood and gore”?

Of course, if people would like to skip it, in order to enjoy the game, give them the option.

When I first clicked on the linked question I was like, "What evil is this?!?"

But if you’re only speaking to the game as it is shown currently, I'm at a loss.

At the moment the game doesn't really show them spitting out crab or shrimp body parts at all. We get to see a little chewing in some cases, and spikes in crabs in some cases. The artists wanted all kinds of spitting of various things and limp bodies, but I didn't feel that it necessarily added to the game. Instead I felt it might be an unnecessary distraction and would only appeal to people who got a little pleasure out of the "ew! Gross!" moments in life. :)

Whatever we add as an option, it will still be reasonably tasteful and if at all possible, humorous for those that like that sort of thing. After all, there's still a big difference between the zombie shooter where blood and gore is so over the top that it cannot be believed, and more real-life occurrence of one animal chewing on another so we still have to be careful about how it's done.

But we'll add something as an option. It'll make the artists happy.

I think having it be optional is a great idea. If it is like shells and stuff, that is fine..lol a power up or something like a pearl would be funny!

Don't worry, the response has been pretty clear everywhere - no real blood and gore, even in co-op. What crab shells and things are spit out will be optional. Not really a good way to do blood anyway.
