Tips for a n00b?
Enjoying the game so far. However, I seem to hit a wall once I make it to the office building. I checked the wiki, and that was helpful as far as determining how to develope your game. However, I suspect I am not investing wisely in my research and my staff. Any general tips or strategies would be much appreciated.

an easy way to improve that i did is to save the game and look for employees who had 350+ on design or tecnology (don't look for balanced) AND 300+ SPEED

that way they'll put tons of bubbles on any project. if you don't get the right people just load and invest another random amount of money on recruiting.
With staff, aim for a mix of all-rounders and specialists. Also, either put 2M or about 50k, anything in between and you're basically wasting your money. With research, just do whatever you feel is necessary. As a guideline, I'd do at least a new graphics engine for every engine, or if that's too expensive just a ton of other features. Stuff like multi-genre and other project management stuff is good too.

I have been having a problem getting a major sale after I hit a 3.3 million dollar sale streak with one game! After that all I got were 5/10 to about 7/10. I did get one 9.5/10 but it only got me around 500,000. It is quite difficult.
Pay attention to the % when developing the game, this becomes important once you are making bigger titles. I usually keep the % at around 90%.
When i get to second stage, when you can hire some employee's i always get bankrupt. I just can't seriously work with employee's .. Can't manage them rightly
Don't pay too much for a budget of employees (80k is good)
Next time, don't go out of garage until you have $10 million. That helped me a lot.
