Steam keys/desura
It says if I buy this on desura I will get a steam key too.

How does this work?

They ask You to support them by voting this game on Steam Greenlight, promising everyone who purchased the game at another distributor to receive a steam key for the game.
So mainly, if this game makes it in Greenlight, You will receive a free key to get the steam version of the game too. Of course, if You already own the game.
Interested? Then You should upvote this game for higher chance to get the key.
That's it. Hope it's clear for You.

Take care~ Saana.

Essentially what Saana said. It's not necessarily just Desura buyers only, usually, early supporters who buy directly from the developer site also get rewarded with a key once the game shows up on Steam. Same deal with, for example, indie bundle adopters.

Another question to add at this one : Do you know if the savefils of the game can be use with the steam release once it's released ?
AbyssalSoul  [développeur] 17 fév 2013 à 4h59
I'll reply to this one: the save files should technically be compatible with the game once it's released here, with the added advantage that we would like to include Steam cloud saving for the game (on top of Steam achievements and leaderboards for the different game mods) so you can carry over progress/unlocked weapons/scores when switching between machines.

It's good to read that, thanks :)
Steam achievments will be retroactive ?
AbyssalSoul  [développeur] 18 fév 2013 à 4h57
Unfortuntely, that's a complicated one: we won't know for sure until we can get our hands on the Steamworks frame and do proper testing with the game.

Hopefully sooner than later we might find out! But, yeah, would be nice to be able to carry over full progress on that front as well.

As much as I want to support the game by buying it before it comes to steam, I keep reading things about technical problems.
One person from Desura has a huge problem with so-called MCF error and demanding a refund cause he/she can't play the game.
The safest place to buy a game to make sure it will run no problem is on Steam. Really not sure if I should buy it from a different site. :/

Well apparently that problem is caused by Desura's launcher (Read FetusZero's and AC Wraith's comments http://www.indiedb.com/games/croixleur ) so you shouldn't have any problems if you buy it from the Croixleur homepage or Gamers Gate.

Desura seems to have a particular way of wrapping game installers and installation locations, this has apparently caused plenty of issues. I tend to play DRM-free mostly so to me it's usually install/extract and I'm ready to play.

Taking note of this one though!

Explain this please >> https://twitter.com/nyumedia/statuses/364980825172873217
basically early adopters are now screwed because you want us to "rebuy" it in steam platform when it is greenlit.

I would like to have a confirmation, if will you still provide steam keys or your previous statement here is just a charade

While the dev has their freedom to do anything with their marketing strategy, I make me feel like a scam that trick gamers into voting their greenlight.

What about those that buy here - http://www.gamersgate.com/profile/Johnny-Arcade ?

Shows I own the game there, so does it mean I get a key once it's ready?

Hi guys, apologies for the patchy responses. To clarify: anyone who bought the game prior to it being greenlit will received a Steam key for the game. We haven't confirmed the exact details of how this will work on a per-distributor basis yet, but it will happen.

Btw, we're working on adding some significant improvements and new features for the Steam release, so it's quite possible that save games will not carry over. More news on this as it breaks.
