Knitting is not pronounced ke-nitting, it's a silent K - just nitting. The same applies here!
knytt is a name. A swedish name, and as such, to properly pronounce knytt, you pronounce it the swedish way. (its actually a swedish word too). That makes it a hard k as in cow followed by nit. so: c-nit.

Knytt (pronounced k-nit) is a swedish word for a type of small fairy folk. There is no proper translation to english. It could be translated to fairy, faerie or sprite, but these creatures has a more proper name in swedish "älva".

To elaborate:
Knytt is the benign kind of fairy folk. While Oknytt is the malign kind.
Knytt and Oknytt encompasses all kinds of beings from fairies and sprites to gnomes and goblins.

The y-sound is usually pretty hard for English speakers. This is how it sounds - you can play the sound on the left side of the page.
Otherwise you guys are right, the K is not silent.
