The community has shown their interest in this game. Valve has reached out to this developer to start moving things toward release on Steam.

I know it's kinda obvious that this game will have turrets and you can "deform" the terrain to make walls or stands for your structures but will there be more kinds of defensive structures other than walls and turrets? like gates, shields, force fields that are eather one-way or only let the player's units or his/her allies through ect?

Here is an idea why not let us be able to put structers underground. he did show you could mine out an area of the map to make an underground with some poweful weapons. this would be great for hinding your base from you enemy

yes but it would help if you could make some kind of entrence so if they do find your bases entrence you can wipe out their attack force so if the other player commander (in PvP) isn't watching and he just blindly sent his units to scout (asuming your playing PvP) he won't realize where his units are and what they found untill it's too late or you can find a cave, dig a little hole to start, build some walls and a door and/or force field (making sure that you make it hard for scouts to find your base) of course you would set up a base underground mid to late game so you have the resources to build some units to escort or set up along the route your diggers/builders are gonig to take to take out any nasties located in the caves (asuming that there are going to be neutral factions some of which are going to be hostile that arn't controlled by the players or the "main" bots like the neutral civs in the origenal supreme commander the difference being there are more than one and some can be friendly some can be hostile some can be in between)

now there is one problem with setting up you base underground. now i'll you let you think that problem would be for a min. 1 min later ok here is the problem how would the cammra systom work in the underground area also how would the builders know that they are supose to build down there and now on the suface and finealy what size of cave would you need to make an gundergound base or building? all good question and there was a good resin why that has never been done because most developpers lak one of two thing creative or programming skill to do stuff that complex. But man is it worth doing some of these comples ideas because the payoff is more then what you would expect to see almost everytime.
