Mod authors being exclusive to a single platform risk that platform going away and taking their work offline forever.Makes me kind of wonder what's going to happen to the existing Skyrim stuff in the Workshop once Special Edition is out. Bethesda moving official mods for that over to their platform throws a big wrench in things.

Dealing with 32 bit Skyrim in the age of 64 bit games has been a hassle since 2011 that never should have been. I also have my reasons for being pretty unhappy with Valve and won't shed a tear when I put the SSE versions of my stuff up at Bethesda's site.
