To part with $100 to put my game on greenlight or not.....

It's not complete. Maybe I'll wait till I have a demo.

No risk no fun ;)

No but honestly it's a shame that the $100 gotta be there. Can you not get money back in taxes ?

lol not sure. I don't mind the $100 fee but I don't know whether people are into that style of game nowdays.

As a platformer you might have a hard time, there are a LOT of platformers on greenlight which you'll be competing against, however your game does look to be a much higher quality than many of them so it might still be worth a try. Personally I'm not into platformers, though I don't mind the occasional metroidvania type game, but there are quite a few platformer fans on greenlight. La Mulana seems to have been getting a fair bit of positive feedback, and there are a few platformers that have already been greenlit. I suggest you take a look at those and see how your game stacks up against them, if you think you have a comparable game (and it looks like you might) then it's probably worth a try, in the worst case you'll have made a $100 donation to Childs Play and got some feedback and exposure for your game.

There's far worse games, greenlight pages and trailers on this service.

your game seems ideal for steam as long as its all your own work :)

Yeah it is, thanks for feedback. La Mulana is in fact one of the inspirations for the gameplay in Spud's Quest (the temple parts anyway)

Just remember that most projects on greenlight need to gather most votes from outside, so try to send your greenlight page to as many sites as possible to promote your project.

if you don't input a gosub command you'll never get a subroutine.

Tsch. Sneaky devs pimping their games under the guise of a 'discussion/question'. :)

lol, the votes don't count towards anything since it's only a concept not up for greenlight. Just wondered what kind of interest exists for this style of game that's all ;)

Will be releasing a demo this week, check project page for more info.
