Steam Greenlight
There should be an entry fee for concepts.
Really, there are too many fake games, games that aren't owned by poster, games that aren't even planned for release on steam. Some symbolic entry fee, like 1 usd, would really help get to get rid of them.

No, that's dumb. Just report fake concepts and move on.

I really wish there was some kind of roadblock for all the chumps making a mess of Concepts with their fake projects or complete misunderstanding of what Greenlight is for. They're never going to introduce a fee though.

It'd be nice if it was actually moderated to a greater degree than it is now. It's all well and good reporting Concepts but when they still end up sitting there for well over a week or so, it's beyond a joke. They need to be taken down within a day.

They can't even use the excuse of needing to investigate them. When highly offensive material is sat in Concepts for over a week or existing games that belong to major publishers go untouched, it's obvious that the Concepts section is pretty much a zero priority for Valve.
They could simply get an intern to weed it out, and he could spend the rest of his workday doing whatever odd jobs they need, but we all know that valve doesn't hire people quickly. The team in charge of Greenlight is probably the same submissions team stretched thinner than ever. They're still getting all the "Regular" submissions as well as all the greenlight traffic.

They should've done that with the games section instead of imposing a fee some people can't even afford. The last thing this service needs is more lazy arbitration because the mods don't feel like doing their job.

If you can't afford $100 to showcase your game, or at least sell enough copies to make that much, or even borrow that much from somebody, then you're in the wrong industry.

hell yeah, it's £20 from the Gfx team, £20 from the S & M, and £20 from the coders. If they don't feel confident enough for that...
Someone hoping to sell tens (heck, even hundreds) of thousands of copies of their game on Steam doesn't have enough faith in it to pay a paltry $100? Maybe if you knew your game was a real piece of trash, you wouldn't risk it but otherwise, it's a drop in the ocean.

Concepts are ideas that are not for sale, GL are games that are almost ready for sale and are requesting steam to be their distribution platform. Your suggestion is invalid. If you're in the business to sell game, you should have some capital to backup your game for marketing.

Be easier to spot them with Erinduck's suggestion, after all there are thousands of games, and paying a dollar wouldn't discourage anyone really.

I have to agree with TRC :)

As Mindwedge pointed out a couple weeks ago, it's not just the sales you can get for your c-bill. Do you have any idea what that kind of market research would cost?

Don't forget too, that some of the mistakes are due to language barriers, from what I see, games are submitted from several countries, not just North America. And...there's the other problem we see a lot of today, and that is: PEOPLE DON'T READ :D hehehehe

Maybe you should get a job doing their job for them, and realize just how MANY games there are out there, with more incoming all the time.

Hehe, I just went over there and spotted this "DJ Oleg" guy posting both "True Crimes" and "Syndicate" because he thinks they are good games and wants to see them on steam...
