Can't really disable a subscribed object
after a successful subscription of a texture pack, the new texture works. However now I want to cancel the subscription again. It works at steam in the workshop area but has no effect on the game itself. The new texture is still valid. I've restarted everything but without any change. Any advice?

Unfortunately the unsubscribe button doesn't seem to remove the mod. You have the verify integrity of the game cache and let steam redownload the changed files. Very clunky, I know.

I was gonna ask this myself, but I didn't know what to say besides I can't get rid of the mods, thanks both of you.

many thanks. which cache do you mean exactly? folder: appcache/httpcache... ??

Right click on Age of Empires 2 HD in your Steam library, select properties. Navigate to the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". Steam will automatically redownload the modified files.
