I just purchased a Windows 8 machine and was curious. I noticed this is a 64-bit machine and as far as I know, the default Steam Client download icon which is labled"Install Steam" seems to be 32-bit. Is this correct, and if so, will it work on my machine? Is there are 64-bit client?

There isn't a 64-bit client and the 32-bit one will install and function. Thing is, Valve officially doesn't support Steam on Windows 8. You shouldn't run into any troubles, but if you do then it is up to the discretion of the Steam support representative whether or not they'll help you out. It's possible, but I don't believe very likely, that a support representative will tell you to downgrade to a supported version of Windows before offering any further assistance.

I downloaded the 32 bit. It is working just fine on Windows 8. I was getting a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error and BSOD. But figured out what it was. It was the WIFI driver Aethos needed to be updated. I ran the update and have had no issues. Thanks for the input 2POINT4.
