How Can I Change Defult City Names?
I'd like to make some small adjustments to the defult names of Civ's cities, such as changing Washington to Washington DC, changing Tombouctu to Timbuktu, etc. How would I go about doing this. I believe there may be an .ini or .xml file containing the names, but I'm not 100% sure. I'd appreciate any assistance.

There is an XML file that contains these names, but the location depends on what version of the game you are running. If you are using vanilla, the path is Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Gameplay\XML\NewText\EN_US\Civ5GameText_Cities.xml. For G&K and BNW, the directories are under Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC. From there, you should be able to locate the city names file by searching throught the folders, which are organized in the same way the vanilla files are.

just click on your city and where you see the city name click on the edit button to the under/right of the name. you can change the city name to whatever you want, whenever you want. whats this, screwing around in .ini files crap?. just change the name of the city in game.

Not the answer I was looking for.

why not? it is an answer to your question. how to change the default name of city's.

I prefer changing them in the .ini files. That way, I change it once and I have no nedd to change it again. Also, you can't change the names in-game of opponents cities.
