Some games have history, background and a pre-existing crowd to vote. e.g. there are old MMO games which are on GL with a thousands strong fanbease coming to vote, there was "Chaos Reborn" which was such big news that every magazine in the business sent people looking for their Greenlight page, there was "Satellite Reign" which had a kickstarter so big that even if 10% of their backers came to vote it would throw the curve.
Also remember that you don't need to be the top game to get through, If you're still getting those 2-300 votes then over the next couple of weeks you should make it.
