Questions about loading times
Any tips to reduce the loading time of customs titans and maps (but especially maps)? I know it’s not affecting everyone but it’s kind of a big issue for people running the game with older machines (I made a titan a while ago that take me 12 minutes to load. Had it tested by someone with a beast PC: he loads it in 30 sec). Ichiro told us that scaling the pieces was affecting the loading the time. Only problem: scaling is the foundation to make anything that is esthetic so I can’t really stop to use that.

If you want to make a long walkway, is it better to use a lot of pieces of scale 1 or is it better to stretch one or more?

If you scale up only 2 axis of the pieces (like if you wanted to make a cardboard stage set), is it better to use this compared to the global scale value that scale the 3 axis at the same time?

Any pointers you could think of would be helpful.

Are maps really what are causing your long loading times. In my experience, even the most complex maps load very quickly (and for the most part scaling of pieces in maps shouldn't be problematic). It's usually the titan or titans that cause the long loading times. In Titans, scaling can be a factor for loading times, yes.

Yes, maps are my problems. For my latest map, I had an average loading time of 2 min before adding 7 titans, after that it’s now around 2m30.

I first designed this map with platform only. The loading time went crazy when I added the rectangle pieces to form the skyscrapers. Neon sign haven’t been so bad I think because I’ve left most of them at scale 1.

Ok, I did some mucking about in the editor to see why the map takes so long to load (~5s on my system, 22s for the whole map, but obviously that can get long for lower end systems as you mention).

Scale shouldn't really play into it for the map itself/ I think it's really just the sheer number of items you have in the scene that make it take a long time to load. I tried removing various groups (all the tall buildings, or all the signs/decorative pieces) and the loading time dropped by a lot. Obviously you wouldn't want to just delete everything, because it's a nice looking map. But you might want to pare down what you have in there as far as quantity.
