Ethershard 2
September 23, 2014 - Bishop

I'm going to make this update a little earlier then planned. First things first, we have updated the Ethershard 2 Logo / Icon because we felt with the name change, it needed to be done. We are still working on the plugin module, and we should have it stable by the end of the week. From there we will expand it, once the module is finished adding the audio plguin should be a cake walk.

Minor Updates
* Fixed a Error with .gif images not animating properly when used as a background in the game client. (It only loaded the first frame before)
* Fixed a crash that randomly occurred when awaking the PC from hibernation mode. (Windows Vista/7/8/8.1)
* Fixed an odd crackling noise, that made it sound like someone was throwing pop rocks at your headset.

Hello everyone, rather than posting a change log today and list of the things we've done / changed over the past two weeks, I thought it would be a neat idea to let you in on a little secret. There's been some serious concerns involving mp3 licensing and royalty rates. To be blunt, it would cost us $6.25 per copy of Ethershard 2 just to cover the Codec and Decoder. Ethershard 2 is a free product so that wouldn't be possible.

We are aware that majority of music on the internet is in mp3 format so excluding mp3’s is stupid, and would hurt us in the long run. So we've been working on something special. We are tinkering with a custom audio plugin that hopefully will make it so you can drag and drop codec’s into Ethershard 2. What this means is you can fully utilize the K-Lite Codec pack with it. We are still ironing out the fine details, but we will keep you updated.

We know K-Lite is for Window’s only, but its a good starting point and we will expand off it.

Update (9/20) : We got it working fine but not with K-Lite. I'll list in more detail on how we did it, and how to use it on the next large update... and no, you can't drag and drop k-lite into it. I wish it was that easy.

Bug Fixes
*Fixed another crash bug with Windows 8 and 8.1.
*Fixed a crash bug that occurred when attempting to exit Ethershard 2.
*Fixed some spelling and grammar mistakes.
*Fixed an audio corruption bug that occurred when loading MP3's.
*Fixed audio skipping that occurred in 8bit mode.

New Features
*Began creating a optional GUI customization mode for the settings menu.
*Created a password option for direct IP connections. (Regarding multiplayer/Co-op)
*Publishing off Steam's network started. (For setting up library's on private websites)

Miscellaneous Stuff
*Cleaned up documentation in general.
*Publishing on Steam Workshop finished.
*Rewrote some network code because it was a mess.
*Reduced codebase by almost 2 percent!
*Removed unused code that was intended for Andriod 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Its been over 2 years and a lot of work has been done, we are ready to launch. Single and Multi-player support along with Co-op is now in Ethershard 2. Are you ready?
