The Legend
Community Outreach Ideas - 7 November 2012
November 7, 2012 - AustinHand

Good Afternoon, Fans!

We've decided to get some community feedback about a possible technology to be incoprorated within "The Legend". We are developing a technology to generate random worlds with CryEngine 3, ultimately meaning, a new gamemode will be introduced to the Horror Gaming community!

Every gamer that participates in this gamemode will receive a unique and different experience than anyone else. Not just randomized buildings or survival items, but, a whole different world for every player; EVERYTIME you play it. We are asking for community feedback on this technology. If we receive enough feedback, we will be adding it into "The Legend".

While you're participating in this feedback session, go ahead and drop a question for the developers! It may be answered in the next Developer Q&A! As incentive to participate, we are offering the first 100 fans that participate, an exclusive material from the Developers.

To participate, tweet @ElderProduction, announcing your feedback on the idea! Also, be sure to include the hashtag: #ElderProdQA IF you are participating in the Developer Q&A aswell.

Thank you for your continued support!
Signed,
-Elder Productions Team

J'adore, un slenderman avec des graphique à la CryEngine 3. Sa rend le jeu mille fois plus awesome. De plus, cette petite musique qui sait nous stresser comme il le faut :D

If you can make it feel close enough to the quality/stability of a manually created world this would be a welcome addition. Please be careful not to fall into the typical trap of trading too much quality/stability for random generation, putting the popular cart before the horse and such. Too many games seem to be doing this and most do a poor job. In a deeply immersive game lack of stability can ruin the whole game, at least for me.

Could you perhaps demo how these worlds would look and explain what may be gained or lost by implementing this? (Beyond the aforementioned items of course.)

Out of curiosity, how would you compare your horror style to that of Frictional Games (Amnesia), and was The Legend influenced at all by their work or research into psychological horror in gaming?

I'm very interested to see where you take this, it's good to see more intriguing games in misunderstood and neglected genre. Keep fighting the good fight!

I would LOVE to see procedurally generated worlds.

In a way, that's kind of how Minecraft is, and it would make it more difficult to replicate someone else who has played it. as long as this is just another part too it and that there is a main world that everyone has, then I'd say yes.
