Delver
Engine improvements: procedurally generated outdoor terrain
November 12, 2012 - cuddigan

Lately I've been working on some additions to the Delver engine, the biggest being support for procedurally generated terrain for use in overworld levels.

Screenshots: Small town[i.imgur.com], Rolling hills[i.imgur.com], Zombie theme mockup[i.imgur.com]

These are regenerated on the fly when needed and no information is being saved except for moving objects, so the save files for a world should stay quite small.

don't get me wrong, i love this game it looks amazing but when i saw the rolling hills it kind of didn't seem usual, it's just it looked a bit odd and it might look a bit better if there wern't so many but this update still looks great and im waiting for the game to come out on steam, keep up the good work :D

also i think it would be cool if this got trading cards for steam, i can imagine little Delver emoticons

I would love it if there was a town where you can buy equipment and talk to various npc's before going into the dungeons :) looking forward to future updates :3

Very cool! I can see the player starting in a small town complete with merchants, other players(?), quest givers...and a starting dungeon maybe? Once you complete the starting dungeon you set out to discover other forgotten dungeons or towns, maybe even dangerous towns filled with bandits or evil wizards (like those found in the dungeons)? This game looks so awesome, can't wait to see what the full release will be like!
