Heya! I've finished a private alpha build of Melody's Escape and sent it to a few select people.

Heya! :)

I've been quiet for the past few weeks, so here's an update about the game, with a new video and new screenshots.

  • New animations. I've changed/fixed most animations (especially the roll and jumps) that didn't feel right, now they are much smoother and have some more "weight" to them. I've also added smooth transitions between movement animations for each intensity changes.

  • Upgraded the music engine to supports low BPMs (60 to 80) songs (which are mostly calm/sad songs). I've re-used the same song as in my last video to demonstrate the lower tempo speed, hence the easier gameplay. The engine now supports songs from 60 to 180BPM (in 4/4 timing), providing even better overall accuracy.

  • A new background, the city (which still needs to be animated to react to the music). The game will have a different background for each intensity mode, the city is only one of four.

  • Changed/added visual clues to be something else than just colors, which improves reactivity and also allows colorblind people to play the game. Colors can also be edited in the game settings, should you want to change them.

I'm now concentrating on the last intensity mode, flying, which isn't up to par with my vision yet (and hence not shown in the video).
