Ternin

I'm very pleased to announce that there is now an official web site to show off all aspects of the game. Along with general audience information there is a press kit with everything needed for media to cover the game. If you are interested in reviewing Ternin for your blog, review site, YouTube channel or other venue, please get in contact and we will get back to you with a promo copy.

A Steam version is still a possibility depending on how the voting and commenting here goes. If you know of a friend who plays games on Steam and might light Ternin, please send them a link to this page!

To better feature the gameplay elements in full context, the new UI graphics, and the social features, a new video trailer has been created and placed on this page.

We hope you like it. If you have a friend on Steam who might like Ternin, please send them a link to this Steam Greenlight page!

A new level menu has been added that shows the status of each level at a glance and lets you pick up from any unlocked level.

There are now 30 levels of increasing difficulty displayed on two level menu screens. Several styles were tried until this one, which seems simple yet maintains the graphic style in the game. How do you like it?

All the images are now in HD for high resolution screens. Graphic elements are optimized for size and appearance. And of course, testing, testing, and more testing to make sure all the bugs get squashed!

Fit and finish is the focus now. All the little things are now getting attention, and the list includes such things as:

  • Added a level select interface that shows player progress on each level graphically
  • Pacing improved: clearing all but black cubes triggers puzzle complete, incomplete display right away rather than waiting for the black cubes to roll off the state
  • Heads Up Display: Graphically improved
  • Timer added to HUD
  • Sound effect levels adjusted
  • Each level starts with a voice announcing it and text
  • Facebook login is now presented rather than forced, with a screen explaining why logging in with Facebook is cool

Development of Ternin has taken many months, and it is on schedule for a mid-July release. It would be a happy day here if Ternin was Greenlit and available to the game players on Steam! If you have a puzzle loving friend, please share the Ternin Greenlight page with them!

I want to thank Steam users who have already commented and made suggestions or asked questions. I'm considering every one. Someone mentioned adding two player modes. Well, I agree and I have in mind just that. Ternin is already configured to integrate with Facebook to post achievements and send challenges to friends. I think it would be fun to allow players to make their own puzzle and send them to friends, inviting them to try to solve it in as few moves as they did.

So for now, it's ready to go as single player, but in the future, I see two player as a great enhancement.
