Magic Science - Shift
Alot of negative comment :(
May 5, 2014 - mind-alien

Hi, i've seen alot of negative comment, most of them talk about enviroment & portal copyright.
For the enviroment I'm trying to make enviroment that doesn't look like Portal or Qube or any puzzle games, if you don't like the enviroment or the idea that's fine, it's your opinion anyway. And some people said it's similar to Portal and that's fine too.But if you called me a thief who copyrighted Portal then you are wrong, if true steam should remove my game on green light. This game has deffirent idea.

Note : if you need another video to show you more then i'll make another one if you want.

Thank you for reading

This and most of the greenlight titles should be removed.

I am not really sure what these mechanics are. I watched the video and everytime something was sent to a transport pad I was completely unsure why it moved the way it did. Yes this is portal-like, but so were anti-chamber and Q.U.B.E (I love both of those) I am not giving a yes because the video is boring and confusing. The concept is unclear and there is no narrative to draw me in. I won't vote "no" yet. please make another video and give me a reason to say "yes"

steam rarely remover games from the store or greenlight, games like this tend to be voted down and out by the comunity anyway. also stop ripping off portal

We're just sick of seeing games on GL that are obviously inspired by other popular games. When I go into GL I try to find games with fresh new concepts to upvote.

I'm not trying to be negative here. But here's the thing.
Your game contains a sleek, futuristic/expensive looking gun that's white. A gun that allows you to move objects via waypoints.
Your game also contains simple, no textures, very "clean" looking rooms. Test chambers, lets say, that you can move on from once you figure out how to get a cube from the way points with your gun to their end destination.

Nope, I don't see Portal at all.

I don't believe the problem is copyright. I believe the criticism stems from lack of original concept. You may not have taken textures, sounds or copywritten material from Portal but you have taken its concept. Portal in itself was a fantastic arcade game and any resemblance to it is going to recieve negative criticism because I personally don't believe any puzzle game involving portals will ever be accepted into the gaming community due to that.
