Zenzizenzic will be published by Adult Swim Games! And Steam!
August 20, 2014 - bitHuffel
Zenzizenzic is going to be published by Adult Swim Games! And this is very, very exciting because we can now do what was not possible before: making Macro, the rogue-like open world variant of Zenzizenzic, a reality. Also, with the support of Adult Swim Games the game will come to Steam.
Macro was a stretch goal during the Kickstarter campaign and unfortunately we did not reach that stretch goal. But! Adult Swim Games saw the potential in Zenzizenzic and Macro after the Kickstarter had successfully attained its core goal and they reached out with an offer to publish Zenzizenzic and Macro! After a bit of back and forth we finalized the deal just last week and we are now already busy working together to bring the game to new heights (such as a Steam release!).
It has been quite a journey already, but things are getting more and more exciting still.
What will change? Let us take a look.
1. Adult Swim Games will publish Zenzizenzic.
This has a lot of pros. For instance, the game will become available on Steam! The possible audience that Zenzizenzic reaches will also increase by magnitudes pretty close to Graham’s number (i.e. a lot!).
2. Adult Swim Games’ support allows development of Macro.
What was not possible before now is. However, a bit of a concession had to be made. If Macro was going to be developed before Adult Swim Games’ support it would be released as a stand-alone expansion after Zenzizenzic’s release. Now the two of them are going to be combined in a single release. There are multiple reasons for this decision, such as to avoid confusion, to prevent doing a double promotional campaign (which would be very costly) and to make a single, very strong release. We are now looking at June 2015 for a release.
3. Kickstarter backers will receive a DRM free copy of Zenzizenzic ‘vanilla’ (without the Macro portion) as soon as possible.
On the Kickstarter page the promise was made that Zenzizenzic would see a release around late July / early August. The accident I had which left me without any real functional arms (still recovering until end of August) put me out of business for a while, but I do still want to uphold to that promise. So the Kickstarter backers who would receive a copy of Zenzizenzic will still do as soon as possible! It will have all the content as it originally would have (so without Macro). As a bonus, to make up for the delay and change of plans, those backers will all also receive access to the Macro portion when it is ready. I want to send out Zenzizenzic vanilla at around beginning of September. When the game is available on Steam, Steam keys will be send out.
Those are the main changes. I can imagine you may have questions, so below you will find a short Q&A. If you have any other questions then do let me know, I will be happy to answer.
Thank you all for the support, without you this wouldn’t be possible! Every bit of support helped towards reaching this point.
Best, Ruud Koorevaar – developer of Zenzizenzic
- Who is Adult Swim Games?
The best way to find out is to simply check out http://games.adultswim.com/! You can also take a look at what other titles they have published on Steam, there are some gems in there for sure.
- I was looking forward to playing Zenzizenzic, but now I have to wait until next year. What can I do?
Go here to subscribe to the newsletter! I will occasionally send out a newsletter to keep you all in the loop on how the game is progressing (about once every 3-4 weeks tops). And the same list is used to send out closed alpha/beta access keys over the entire course of development. So go here and subscribe to have a chance to get a key! In the meanwhile you can always give the demo a spin over here on the Zenzizenzic website. Early access is still being discussed. The best way to stay in the know is to subscribe to the newsletter.
