Hi everyone, thanks for all the support and votes so far! I just wanted to highlight a very nice review from The Slowdown's Martyn Zachary.[]

"Inescapable is a Metroidvania-style indie game of admirable constraint and deliberateness."

"...creates a style, and atmosphere, that is much its own."

"Much like the rest of the game, the visuals are notable for their effective understatedness."

" with the rest of the game, these snippets and bits of writing are ultimately a tool – rather expertly utilized by Fielding – for creating an illusion, or a sense, of place – and at the very end of the game, a very specific mental space that the game ultimately, laudably, inhabits."

"...everything about the game seems so very, very deliberate."

"Inescapable...made me confront my own mortality as a gamer and a reviewer."

Full change list:

  • Improved support for certain USB gamepads
  • Shock absorbers now reduce all falling damage to zero
  • Strong updrafts are now more visually distinct from others
  • Fixed a bug where a key reappeared even after collected
  • Made some underwater jumps easier
  • Improved physical layout of some neighbouring rooms to make more sense
  • Fixed a typo in the story text

"Inescapable hits all the right notes..."
"I found the ending quite moving. A thoughtful critique smartly grounded in its simplicity, Fielding found the perfect way to cap off your soldier’s exploits."
