March 4, 2015 - Oh, a Rock!

Oh hey, so check this out! We've been Greenlit! Thanks to everyone for your support over the last (according to Steam's analytics) 551 days! Our war of attrition against TIME ITSELF has come to an end.

We're not ready to announce a release date yet, although if I had to guess, I'd say we have maybe 5% of the game left to build. (...And of course, it's that last 5% that's taking the longest.) Be secure in knowing that we're making steady progress on the game, every day. Just yesterday I squashed a bug where the main character grew 18x his normal size by walking through a doorway.

P.S. Another game I (Paul) did writing and design work for is up to #84 on Greenlight, so please drop a vote off there too if you have a chance!

December 9, 2014 - Oh, a Rock!

Things are still trucking along well with The Beard in the Mirror! We've got maybe a couple screens' worth of art left to create (along with all the coding and testing that requires); I'm hopeful we'll be able to publish by the end of 2015. And, since we're up to 75% on Greenlight (wait, WHAT), there's a p. good chance that when it does come out, we'll be publishing on Steam!!

In the meantime (i.e., while our Art Department is plugging away on Mirror) (our Art Department is one person), we actually released a new game! It took about two months from "hey, we should make this game" to hitting the publish button on, because apparently it's way easier to make a 20-minute VN than it is to make a full-length adventure game. Who knew? It's a visual novelette about spam e-mail called "My Nigerian Prince," and you can check it out here:

May 2, 2014 - Oh, a Rock!

We've been working on The Beard in the Mirror for...well, longer than we'd like to admit, at this point; so we decided it's finally time to settle down and come up with a proper name for our little development group. So please give a warm Internet welcome to "Oh, a Rock! Studios"!

We set up a new website to go along with our new name, since that's something that real videogame companies do. You can check us out at, where you can learn more about who we are, what we're doing (and what we've already done), and maybe ferret out one of the secret new ideas for the game that we haven't talked about publicly yet. It'll be like a scavenger hunt! (...Where the information is directly in front of your face.)
