Hello, everyone!



It was looong ago since I've posted here, even forgot how to do that. Not gonna write why, previous post is still relevant even though it's an year-old post. If you've followed my twitter, you might have seen these new screenies. This is what Inverto looks like on Unity 5. So whats new except graphics? As you might know Inverto has an integrated level editor. Well not anymore... Now a Level Editor has an integrated game - Inverto. And it is called...

VoxelWorks

Fully featured, fully integrated and even more than just an editor (in future versions). In near future it will probably be a standalone FPS creation tool. Easy to use, yet powerful enough to create a quick good looking shooter.



Not gonna do a full announcement yet. I still need to finish it as Inverto Editor, and I need testers, lots of them.. So if for some reason you think you can help test it, wanna hunt some bugs, or just play around with it, drop me a line.

BTW, What do you think about a small mapping competition? I'm thinking... prizes =)

Conclusion

There will be a series of posts, I'm planning before an upcoming, long-awaited, "finally" an update, where I gradually introduce all the features. So in two terms:
  • it's alive
  • it's coming
  • it has an editor

Hello everybody!

I apologize for keeping you waiting so long for a new update. Guess I should explain what was happening to me and the project for all this time. As you may know I'm from Ukraine and for last 8 months it was not easy times here (and still are). Not going to tell you a lot about it, if you wish you can find more info on The Internets. All I can say, I was involved.

...But enough politics here and let's get down to business.



Inverto is alive!

Again! Well, Its development was not really suspended, just paused for some time now. Now I'm back to development, but as a "spare time" project. That means it will be slooow. By this time a lot of improvements were made and a lot of bugs were fixed. Full list is coming with later announcement, and thanks to Tomas Zahradnicek for feedback & testing, hope we will continue this cooperation.
New levels, new editor functionality, new gui and that is not all of game aspects that I'm working on right now. There is a lot to do, so not an easy decision was made. To keep development stable, predictable and close to the recent plans, released game will be only 12 levels long (it was planned as a short 9 level game initially) and story, characters and drama will be put aside, sorry.

...But hey, you will have an editor, right?



Summary

So let's summarize: developer is Ok, game is (kind of) Ok, development is slow but is also Ok, that means new update (and Steam release) is coming. Stay tuned for later announcements!

That was unexpected :) but I managed to develop a functional ingame level editor for Inverto. And it was not so hard as I've expected it to be. Just think, than I kept putting off the development, for quite a long time already of the tool which helps create a basic playable level in couple of hours! It still lacks some gameplay objects, and some features of the game require a redesign/simplification to be added to editor.

New Inverto update is available on Desura.


Added a lot of new stuff and introduced some of new features (some of them are basic other are more advanced).

New maps introduce long promised features like teleports, electric circuits, gyroscopic switches and force fields (right now more like force field bridges, but who knows...). Read more info on this features here.

This update changelog:

  • Added two new levels
  • Added full controller support(for both menus and ingame controls)
  • As usual new pickups and secrets are included.
  • Also some small changes in GUI (internal mostly) and settings: FOV is now configurable.
  • Difficulty removed, checkpoints and orientation help are on by default, but can be disabled/enabled in options menu (if you want to try the hard way).
  • Weapon animation changed and zoom is fixed now (and you'll need this on new maps).
  • Player changes and fixes.

Though I'm not so proficient with a gamepad I managed to somehow finish level 4 (by miracle, I think). With that kind of controls some puzzles require redesign, as they are mostly "mouse controls optimized". and in a current state game can probably support OUYA and PlayJam GameStick (if only I had those SDKs) and mobiles after some additional work on input manager, but I'll leave it for a dreams. As I still have a lot to do... This time another two levels will be added, I also work on some more interesting stuff which will be showcased later.

Hello, everyone!



New Inverto update is published on Desura. Right now game is on alphafunding (for only 4 bucks) to help with further development and get valuable user feedback.

Most notable changes from previous version (0.41):

  • Added character and a small intro flythrough cutscene
  • Added "secret" orb pickups and keys, so now first level is more interesting not just shoot here and you are done.
  • Added some new and reworked old ones, also with pickups and secret rooms.
