I've finally release Electro•pocalypse, formerly known as Demolition. It's not on Steam yet, but you can get it direct (no DRM too) from stratolab.com/electropocalypse, or from the iPad App Store.

You can download here the latest build (30 September) of Demolition[stratolab.com]. It has a few more levels, a toolbox, and lots of bug fixes.

After a few levels you get a toolbox at the bottom to get more parts. Later you can use it to build your own circuits. Also if the game crashes, it will send a report back to me so I can find bugs. A few people have reported it doesn't work on Windows so I need to figure out why. Clicking on a part shows a menu to activate, change polarity, or see info. You can see which pieces are movable by a yellow shadow below them. When server is unavailable, doesn't use so much cpu. Fixed bug where a loop of wire would break simulation. Your moves are counted and some levels give you a bonus.

I've been showing the game to friends and I really like how it's shaping up. This week we've added a map of puzzles so you can jump around if you want. There is a new process for completing a level–you have to press a Test button, and if you succeed, then you can press Done, or continue experimenting. Network simulation feedback is improved–if the network is slow, it shows you so you know when your changes are being simulated. And I’ve added LEDs, although no good puzzles using them yet.

It looks like there's already a game named Demolition so I have to think up a new name. Maybe "Blow Stuff Up" or "Detonator". Any ideas?

We just uploaded a new version. It has lots of great art from Mike and some puzzles from me and Evan. The difficulty curve is too steep still---we need to fill in more puzzles to teach each concept. But I had a blast making some of my puzzles. There is also an information panel where you can read about the different parts, and some levels have a blurb about the central concept of that level such as voltage divider or measuring current.

We're still playing around with how much information to present to the player---what goal to give, how much explanation about the electronics concepts, and where the player finds it.

Enjoy. And tell us your impressions---we've been playing it so much it's hard for us to know how it feels to someone else.

Hello blog followers,

Today we are releasing another major update.

We've implemented some art from our amazing collaborator Mike Hales[wobblyart.com], as well as a map that shows the player's progress and a number of new level concepts.

We've also tried to show rather than tell the player how to finish the levels, and we're working on moving towards a more demonstrative style of teaching.
