Fleish & Cherry in Crazy Hotel
UI Aesthetics
January 28, 2014 - Red Little House

We're working on the aesthetics of the interface and we want to know your opinion. What do you think? Which one do you prefer?

1 is the best option.

Probably really late to comment on this but I don't feel like any of these match the feel you are going for. I personally think a pie chart/compass/segmented circle interface, flat but with good contrast to the icons (I like them) would feel better. Oh and make it an option that can be toggled on or off for color or gray scale.

I think you'd have more luck if the each icon had a unique silhouette, rather than all being round. Also try giving them a thick dark outline to emphasize their shapes. I hope that helps ;)

Number 1 matches the aesthetic best.

+1 to the "flat buttons", at least give it a try

1st by far.

number 3 in my opinion. Far more cartoon-like I feel.

1. i appreciate keeping it true to the rest of the work by keeping it black and white
2. probably the best imo. keeping it dimmed so that it still feels like it has some of that black and white age but by leaving in some color it will help color coordinate for those who like to use color to differentiate game actions/item/buttons.
3. just looks way out of place in this game. tho obviously benefitial to the color coordinated people in this world, it just doesnt help the rest of the work. it fact it may be a distraction. we're so use to color now a days that I feel like my eyes my wonder to that corner more often than I would like for this game.

overall I like 2 if I had to choose between the 3, for a UI you want it to function well for different style players but im thinking to myself if 1 may be the best creative choice or if there might be another solution to this that hasnt been thought of that can keep the black and white look.
