As we continue to receive a tremendous level of support toward getting HL2CTF on Steam we would like to announce future development plans. Many of these plans should address questions that have come up from the community since we submitted the mod to Greenlight.

In the event that HL2CTF is Greenlit and made available for download via Steam, one of the benefits (beyond being able to download the mod anytime for free) will be the mod having access to Steamworks. This is very important as we can expand the mod and players will automatically receive updates as they are implemented.

The following are just a few things players will see developed for HL2CTF if the mod is Greenlit:

• Porting of the mod to Orange Box (Source SDK 2009)
• The mod will gain access to the Steam Achievement System through Steamworks
• Community contributed content through Steamworks
• Client support for Mac and Linux
• Upon the release of Half-Life 3 the mod will be ready for porting

Therefore the more votes and continued support we get will make all of these things possible which would otherwise be impossible--just short of porting the mod to the newest SDK. The mod will also continue to be delivered for free through Steam and as Steam users already know, the updates will be delivered automatically so all players will get these updates without applying patches etc.

We hope that this will encourage more players to vote and support the mod toward this goal as well as answering questions that have come up since our submitting the mod to Greenlight for voting.

Thanks again for everyone's support!

After seven years of development, Half-Life 2: Capture the Flag attempts to achieve another goal of finally getting the mod up on Steam Greenlight.

The mod started in 2004 and was one of the first full-fledged mods to be created under the original Source SDK. As early development moved along, we included many of the first custom maps ever developed for HL2DM and one of the first Capture the Flag mods to be released to the public.

Since then we have retained literally thousands of hours of work, tweaks and playtest results which was developed and tested by many developers who have moved on to large gaming companies as well as other great game mods.

Now that we have moved out of beta and have released HL2CTF version 2.1 as a fully complete and polished mod, we are looking to all of the communities we have built over the years to push the mod to Steam Greenlight.

It's been a long and hard climb, but we hope that the community will show up and make the mod available for download on Steam which we have always hoped would happen.
