Hey everyone. Our latest release, Stonehearth Alpha 10, is now available! You can download the new build from your Humble Bundle page. If you're using Steam, the game should automatically update.

Alpha 10 is is our heftiest release yet, adding some major gameplay features and a ton of performance improvements and bug fixes. We’re now very close to a release on Steam Early Access (soon… soon), and this is a giant step in that direction.

Here are the major features of this release:

At long last, we've added lakes and ponds to the world generation. You can dig moats, channels, and the like – the water behaves largely as you would expect. Of course, there’s still much more to come with this feature: rivers, behavioral improvements, using water as a resource, and more.

Multi-story buildings

We’ve made major upgrades to the building system. You can now create multi-story buildings (time for the tower of your dreams?) using the slab, wall, and roof tools – check out the new building designer interface.

There are other building improvements as well – new building patterns and materials, and smarter hearthling behavior around construction.

Combat Improvements

Chapter Two of the Goblin Campaign is here – if you're able to defeat the first camp, the goblins will return with new enemies and new characters. We've also beefed up the goblins across the board, especially the boss. Finally, the undead now wander randomly at night. Sleep well.

UI Improvements

Based on your feedback, we’ve updated several key UIs in the game: the main menu, the building editor, and the citizens management pane (click on a hearthling and the camera will focus on him or her – get to know your townspeople!).

Performance Improvements

Your settlement can handle twice as many hearthlings as Alpha 9 – now up to 40 settlers can populate your village. Mining large regions and building long roads will occupy much less CPU time.

Hi everyone. Last week we released our newest Alpha. Here are the major features in the release.

  • 64-bit Client! We are now shipping both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of the game.
  • New Harvesting Commands: clear, cancel harvest, and loot (for stealing from goblins)
  • Combat Rebalance. Each individual goblin is now much more of a threat
  • Combat Scenarios. The goblins now organize themselves into structured raiding camps.
  • Combat Music! The music will now change when one of your hearthlings sees an enemy.
  • Shops. Travelling merchants will visit your town every now and then.
  • Autosave

I've added the Alpha 9 trailer to this page. We're expecting Alpha 10 to land in about 4 weeks, and will include massive improvements to the building system, water, and more monster types.

Hi everyone. First off, apologies for not updating our Greenlight page for so long. There actually is quite a bit going on at our devblog, I understand that not everyone wants to hop over the the devblog, so from now on we will post major to this page as they happen.

State of the Game
So, here's what's going on. We've spend the last year and change hammer out the major gameplay features: building, crafting, mining, combat, and our story-driven AI game-master. As promised, we've built all of these systems with modding in mind, and there are already people writing their own mods for the games.

At this point the game is playable and fairly stable. Many of our Alpha testers have hundreds of hours played so far. We are releasing new content and features about once a month, and are on the verge of releasing our 9th Alpha.

If you want to hop into the Alpha, the game is available for purchase at If you buy, you'll also get a Steam key to install the game through Steam. Some things you should be aware of.

What About Early Access?
Thanks to your interest and votes, we are officially Greenlit! So why isn't the game on Early Access yet? We are intentionally holding back the game until we believe that it is complete enough and stable enough for you guys to have a great experience with the game.

The good news is that we are getting close to that point. Over the next few months, we will polish off a few more major gameplay systems, then take a pause on feature development to focus on bug fixing and performance improvements.

We anticipate this work will be finished around the May, June 2015 time-frame, at which point we will officially enter the Early Access program!

So, thanks everyone for your patience, and look for more updates soon.
