And it feels incredible!
We’ve received some really great responses. GameInformer called the game “an impressive feat in video game storytelling" and Polygon said it's "terrifying and unmissable".

Great news everyone! Among the Sleep is basically ready, and will be released for PC, Mac and Linux on May 29th, 2014! (And PS4 a while after - more details on that to follow)
But isn’t that’s only a week away?
Yes, yes it is! And during the short wait, please enjoy the freshly squeezed Announcement Trailer!
A lot is going through our minds now. There’s both lot’s of stress and joy in finally being able to share our project to the world! It’s also been a long ride for us, so it’s not without melancholy that we are now gazing upon the end. But it is mostly with excitement and pride - we cannot wait to share the game with the world, and in turn having the world tell us its thoughts. And feelings.
But we still have one week to go, and we want to spend every single minute to make the game as good as we can. There’s always a small detail that can be improved, a bug that can be found and quashed, and we will not rest until our tired fingers push the great and powerful Release Button in one week!

Lots of things are happening simultaneously right now. Most importantly, we’re actually approaching the release of Among the Sleep! We couldn’t be more thrilled, even though it’s a bit hard to comprehend... Anyhow, we’re very super-close to announcing more release details - it’s not as far off as you might think :)
Currently we’re intensively testing and polishing the whole thing, optimising general performance and VR, improving visuals, doing localization to the languages listed on the Store Page, implementing full gamepad support and improving the menus.
A good sign that we’re approaching the end, is that we’re implementing the credits. Look at that endless list of wonderful names from our Kickstarter!

Nominated for the Nordic Indie SensationAmong the Sleep have been nominated for the Nordic Indie Sensation Award this year! The exhibition and award show will take place next week in Malmö, Sweden, organized by the always lovely Copenhagen Game Collective. There are lot’s of other great nominees as well, check’em out!
Karoline, Svein & Martin from Krillbite will be there to showcase the game, both with and without an Oculus Rift. The event is free, so please drop by and say hi if you’re in the area!

It’s about time we tear ourselves away from working on Among the Sleep for a moment, and touch base with you beautiful people! We’ll try making this interesting, while still being vague and spoiler free. As you already know, discovery and exploration is such a big part of the experience.

Progress on Among the Sleep
Since january we’ve had external testers drop by and play the game in it’s entirety, once a week. Even though there’s still things that needs ironing out, the progress from week to week has been great!
One quick example is the image below, that shows how the area from the teaser looked two months ago, and how it looks now:

In addition to building out the environment, we’re optimising the general flow, making the world feel more alive, nailing story elements, updating textures, implementing final dialogue, polishing animations, and in general making the game better and better.

Anyho, while there is still lots of things to be done, and we’re working intensively all day, every day, we are really excited about how the game is shaping up! It seems we’re not alone, as Among the Sleep continue to appear on numerous most anticipated lists around the world!

And while working on the game lately, we’re slowly realizing that the game is approaching the final stages of development! That feels wonderful, and it’s very much thanks to you, our backers!
Oculus Rift update
Lately we’ve also been optimising the Oculus Rift version of Among the Sleep a lot. We even have an arrangement with Oculus themselves, where we send them builds of the game and they provide feedback on how to improve the implementation. Win win!
As part of this, we’ve updated the Rift-supported version of the Alpha, that can still be downloaded from this link.

Progress and release detailsWe’ve seen some great progress on Among the Sleep the last months. While focusing intensively on the chapters that needs most work, we have also started to combine all chapters into into one continuous experience. Things are really starting to shape up, which has given us a decent overview of what is left to do.
The most important thing for us is to make the game as good as possible. Going forward this involves streamlining the game overall, adding detail, implementing voiceovers, localisation, optimising the Oculus Rift implementation, improving menu & GUI, and lots’n lots of testing and bug fixing. In addition we still have to nail the launch details with distributors like Steam and GOG.
With that in mind, it looks as though Among the Sleep will be released early spring 2014!
