Things continue apace (no pun intended) around here with more work on the step animations by Binster.
Ian is working on a new game mode for multiplayer - can't say what it is yet but...I think a lot of you will like it - and we discussed some of the possibilities we want to include for custom games with different rule-sets today.
One of the things we hope to have in game is variable pitch sizes / scoring zones etc. in various modes, so that has been discussed.
We're also looking into ways in which players will be able to customise their teams e.g. different armour combinations / colours / decals and add-ons. We think this will bring a lot to multiplayer and really give a diverse feel to the teams.
Rich continues to work on the second stadium. I can reveal that it will have a much darker, moodier look that the bright sunny one you've seen so far, so it's a very good contrast.
I'm still working on some narrative stuff for single player. One of the ideas I want to try and include is a "coach's office" type scenario where you'll be able to do things like get emails from various characters, talk to other coaches etc. This might be a bit like the map screen in Frozen Synapse but I'm shooting for something a bit more ambitious than that. One of the problems I have with a lot of sports or sports-style games is that they can be a bit dry and stats-based; by having some more characterisation and a greater feeling of stuff happening in the world, I think we can create a more interesting atmosphere.
Here's my Greenlight recommendation for today - applicable if you like 8-bit platformers...
