October 24, 2013 - Suba Games
You waited long enough, and now it's finally here! The long-awaited Episode 4.3 has been unleashed to our eager community! Go forth, play and be happy!
In addition to the changes reported below, you can also look forward to a massively boosted Happy Hour for the foreseeable future, and if you log in today or on the 25th of October, you will receive a free Contour Capsule.
Check out the update's key features below:
New Maps & Missions
Fight your way across two new combat maps, the NGC Secret Base and NGC Military Shipyard, and tackle challenging PvE missions as you take the fight directly to the nefarious NGC faction. Defeat their combat drones and uncover their darkest evil secrets!
Nation Contribution Point Overhaul
The NCP system in ACE Online has been radically overhauled to provide more fair and balanced gameplay for both nations. NCP calculation now better takes into account overall nation victories, and players on a nation will receive exclusive PvE buffs for win streaks! The nation that’s fallen behind in points, meanwhile, will receive gradually increasing PvP bonuses to help the nation get back in the game!
New Outpost War
Episode 4.3 brings a special new Outpost to conquer, the NGC Outpost. Located inside the new NGC Military Shipyard, the NGC Military Outpost features a battle that takes place over multiple maps that requires players to take down a powerful boss, the NGC’s prototype death-bot Gomora and its protection nodes! Once it’s down, brigades can wage war for control of the entire territory!
New Contour System
Players can equip their contours in style using the brand new Contour Collection system, which changes contours into global account unlocks that players can manage from a centralized screen. Now, a single skin can be used on multiple armors at once, and added or removed at any time. And that’s not all! The new contour system will also allow the Suba Games team to add special bonus PvE stats to specific contours – look forward to those in the future!
Crafting System Update
The brand-new Factory update ensures you’ll never be left wondering which items to combine with which! Now you can browse a full list of recipes and see exactly what you need to get that cool new armor, or how to combine your thousands of crafting materials together into something a bit more compact.
Upgraded Skills & Items
Strengthen your GEAR with brand-new level 100+ skills, and go to town with higher-level armors! These upgrade tiers let you pack even more protection and firepower!

With Episode 4.3 undergoing testing and QA, I want to give you the inside scoop on the major new features you can expect to find in the update. Today, I'd like to talk to you all about one of the biggest overall gameplay improvements to be found in Episode 4.3 - it's not extremely flashy, but it is very cool.
Nation Contribution Point Overhaul
For a long time, the Nation Contribution Point (NCP) system has been a bit irrelevant. While it's a good way of tracking game balance, it simply hasn't had the important effect on overall gameplay that it should have had from the start. Many players simply ignored NCP, since they didn't have any major reason to pay attention in the first place - and the losing team especially would often simply shrug their shoulders and stop caring about it for the month, or try to get themselves transferred over to the winning nation.
Masang Soft took a lot of community feedback into account (some of it from us, too) in order to overhaul the NCP system in Episode 4.3. Below, we've got the changes for you in full detail.
Currently, NCP is gained largely through individual kills players make during wars, and even in the Arena. If you think about this, it's not really the best indicator of how the nation as a whole is doing - a handful of really beefy players can often carry a nation entirely, for instance, making this number not so representative of the whole.
In Episode 4.3, NCP is now modified so that now, personal PvP kills and Arena kills do not contribute to NCP at all.
Instead, NCP is only gained from Mothership Wars, Strategic Points, and Outpost Wars. Outpost Wars and Strategic Points grant 500 NCP each, while winning a Mothership War provides 1000 NCP!
The biggest change is that now Outpost Wars matter to NCP, giving greater incentive for nations to participate, and the losing nation also receives points where previously they did not receive any at all. This helps prevent runaway situations and more clearly indicates which nation is stronger as a whole.
NCP Nation Buffs
These changes wouldn't mean much if there wasn't some actual tangible reward attached to NCP, and thankfully changes have been made to ensure that that is indeed the case, in a way that is very fair and balanced to all players.
Episode 4.3 adds brand-new nation buffs for both the winners and losers in wars. However, the buffs are not the same between winners and losers, and the way the two are calculated is also different.
Win Streak Buffs
Winner buffs are determined using winning streaks, with the war types above (Outpost, Strategic Point, Mothership). The more wins of these type in a row, the greater the nation's buffs will be. These range from bonus damage, evasion, defense, and so on against monsters, to faster movement speed while on-foot in your home city, to a permanent stealth effect that lets you evade enemies in PvE!
The buffs that winners enjoy are very nice - especially the movement speed bonus and perma-stealth - but, you'll also notice that these only apply to PvE play, not PvP play. Therefore, while the bonuses are nice, they won't actually give the winning team an advantage in PvP gameplay. This helps avoid the "snowball" problem where the winners keep getting stronger and stronger.
Losing Nation Buffs
Meanwhile, what about losing nation buffs? The good news is, they also get bonuses - but theirs have some very key differences.
The first is in how the buffs are actually calculated. While winners receive a bonus for their win streak during wars, the losing nation buffs are based on current NCP, and scale directly with the NCP difference between the nations.
Specifically, if the difference between the winning and losing teams' NCP is more than 4,000 points, for every point past that 4,000 point difference, the losing nation gains a 0.0075% global bonus to Defense, Evasion, Attack, Pierce and Accuracy. That's not just a PvE bonus, but also applies to PvP.
For example, let's say the difference between both nations is 7,000 NCP total. That's 3,000 points past the 4,000 point difference, so we'd multiply 3,000 x 0.0075 - giving the losing team a bonus to all those stats of 22.5%.
What this does is make sure that the losing nation can actually fight back if the difference between both nations becomes too severe. Let's face it, if there's a 7,000 point difference, that means that one nation is likely severely underpowered, so they get help to get back on track - but because the bonus also scales directly with the NCP difference, not the base NCP rate, the bonus is only as effective as how far behind the losing nation is.
Last, please bear in mind that win streak and losing nation buffs will stack with each other - the losing nation can still get win streaks and can still get the buffs, while also getting the losing nation buffs too. But, it's also not that likely that a nation losing too much is going to get long winning streaks either, so there's no way a single nation will be able to gain huge benefits forever - and if they do, well, they're still losing.
Overall, we think that this change is one of the best things the game has seen in a long time. We feel that the buffs are enough incentive for players to go for them, but also not too overpowering to completely make up for a lack of skill in the players receiving them - and giving PvE-only buffs to the winners ensures that there is no problem of the strong getting stronger.
Once again, I'm back to give you an inside look into ACE Online's upcoming 4.3 update. This time around, I'd like to talk about one of the more interesting and significant changes to the game!
New NGC Outpost War
The current outposts in the game are tried and true recurring battlezones for brigades to conquer, and have been with ACE Online for many years. To breathe some freshness back into the system, and give a new high-level outpost for players to conquer, Episode 4.3 brings the brand-new NGC Outpost!
Located deep in the heart of NGC territory, past the NGC Marine Lab, this outpost war takes place over two different maps and has both co-operative PvE and competitive PvP elements to it!
Taking Down Gomora
The NGC have set up a massive guardian of the new NGC Secret Base map, Gomora, which appears after the other outpost wars have concluded. Gomora is a huge, powerful enemy that will take a whole brigade - or more - to destroy.
Gomora is an unusual boss to fight. Unlike most, it's protected by a powerful energy shield that makes it all but invincible. The key to taking it down lies in destroying the NGC Controllers that keep its shields up and running. The NGC Controllers are protected by deadly NGC enemies, and will appear at set points around the NGC Secret Base map.
These NGC Controllers are pretty unique too. When destroyed, they will apply debuffs or buffs to the nearby players that destroyed them, leading to some unpredictable effects. Once destroyed, Gomora's shields will remain knocked out for a set amount of time, before being brought back online as a new Controller is created.
Once Gomora has been destroyed, the second phase of the outpost war begins. With Gomora gone, the doors to the NGC Military Shipyard - an interior map environment - are left open, and brigades are now free to war over the NGC Outpost itself. Here, more familiar rules take over, as brigades must capture the NGC Outpost by claiming its CPU as their own and taking down the Protector guarding it.
The outpost is actually a prototype mothership being constructed by the NGC, so it definitely has a unique look and theme to it! Plus, it gives easy access to the new NGC map chain introduced in Episode 4, something that many players will definitely appreciate!
That's it for now everybody. We'll keep you up to date with more new information on Episode 4.3 as the next few days go on and we get closer to release!
