Space Shock
Space Shock is no more "Space Grimrock"!
May 17, 2013 - Jonsnow

Hello fans!

It has been a long time with no news related to Space Shock. Now, we would like to show you something completely new and, we hope, more exciting than everything before. Space Shock will have Turn-based combat instead of any kind of (boring) real-time one, bringing more tactics and strategy into this RPG game. We hope you would like it and any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Space Shock is now much closer to the Kickstarter campaign.

Enjoy watching!

So happy to learn it's turn-based now. The video that looked like it had real-time combat turned me off and I almost voted "No". Thankfully, I read everything before making my final decision. Good choice!

Space Incubation then :D ? Well, that game was already in space. But it's a very good inspiration if you want something to look forward to.

Darn, I wanted "Space Grimrock"! I guess you'll never be able to please everyone, but this one just jumped from a "must have" to "meh." I'll wait and see what the final game looks like, of course, but it lost a lot of the wow going to 3rd person...

It's no longer first person? D':
I agree that having it turn based was a good choice, but no first-person means no old school dungeon crawler nostalgia! I love X-Com, but we already have enough of those games.. We really needed a first-person sci-fi dungeon crawler akin to Might & Magic 3-8.

Hello guys, thanks for all comments here.

rth8: you are right, this is not "pure" sci-fi Dungeon Master clone, and it never should have been a clone, we have always had the visions of dungeon crawling game set in sci-fi but to be honest, ordinary dungeon crawling games have a lot of elements out dated and we want to make a game without those illnesses
CaptainD: only combat will be from isometric PoV, exploration, the puzzles will remain in first person PoV
Velique:we decided to replace a realtime hit'n'run combat system to more tactically turn-based one because of hundreds requests from the fans and players. There is still enough of room to bring a lot of elements from legendary System Shock 2 to the Space Shock due to free-walk exploration mode instead of grid-based one (more variable levels, more exciting gameplay elements etc.)

Space Shock is and always will be dungeon crawler, but not DM (LoG) clone. Space Shock will be Wizardry (8), Realms of Arkania and Albion set in Space.

VERY DISAPPOINTED that this is no longer the FIRST PERSON sci-fi crawler some previous screen shots made it appear to be.

Why is action combat boring!? Why must dungeon crawlers be turn based?

Yet another missed opportunity, this could have been another SYSTEM SHOCK...

I have to agree to "rth8" it looks more like X-Com / UFO !
Like to have also a pure sci-fi Dungeon Master .....

I don't like this new combat mode. Now it is more like Jagged Alliance, which does not fit. I really looked forward to 'pure' sci-fi Dungeon Master, but this is not it.

Blue: As I wrote before, this video is just about the combat phase of the game, so there is not a full switch to a "turn based strategy game" per se. The fps dungeon crawling style of exploring the environment is still included in the game. Concerning the animations and FX - we agree, but these are still "work in progress" materials, but they serve their purpose in this stage of our development. Thank you for your critique.

Paralipsis: Thank you for your opinion, and I hope some of our previous responses to comments in this thread will give you some new insight about our intentions with this new concept and that you will still stay interested in our project.
